They aren't called the "State Urinal" for nothing! Worse excuse for a newspaper I've ever seen. The should at least have the decency of free viewing of articles that are in the interest of public safety. For what its worth though, the Lexington TV stations and Herald Leader websites often publish breaking news stories from Frankfort before the State Urinal so I usually avoid them.

It's a business. They lock the stories so we will subscribe. If you get the paper everyday then you should get the online too. I have a subscription, it includes online. It does not cost extra. I got the subscription so I could get the news any time I want. We all know how it works, I don't understand the complaints.

Buy a subscription or deal with it. I did. It's their business.

I'm fine with the State Journal locking all articles which don't involve public safety... BUT when there is an armed robber on the loose, they need to have it unlocked. We need to know what is going on and who to look out for.

agreed. 100%. i understand both sides of the argument. you get what you pay for. BUT, like others before me pointed out, when it comes to the well being of my family and friends, i'd like to know the details. BEFORE the paper makes it's snail trail to the paper box. thank God for local news stations finding it as imperative as i do and getting the news out in a timelier manner.

I also buy the SJ and when you buy it from one of their boxes or a store you don't have access to online because you aren't paying for the subscription. I don't pay for a subscription any longer cause my paper would never make it anywhere close to my house and I got tired of playing hide and seek with it each day. I don't think the SJ is right in locking their articles. They don't publish enough interesting info to be worth the cost. I buy it for the obituaries mostly.
