Nancy knows so little about the animals there that Franklin is back under the name chuck and she is to stupid to know it! Wonder how she would feel about her little "pet" Victor laughing his ass off about that one behind her back?

I agree but now since you exposed that the dog is actually Franklin I bet he gets put down! How do you feel about that? His name was changed to save his life!

That is such a pathetic place now. Nancy has no personality and lets that nasty queer Victor tell her what to do. IF I ever have to go back down there and that sissy britches gets hateful with me, I will put him in his place fo sho!!!!

I agree that place has gone down hill very fast! Frankfort just needs another shelter and burn that one down. Nobody is friendly down there anymore and they are so quick to kill. It's a shame

Someone needs to take a needle and inject it into her! Maybe put her down! Then let the dogs go free! They would have a better chance finding a home faster by running outta there quickily as possible!

I fostered a dog named jill. I was told that as long as I fostered her, I would have first dibs to adopt her if anyone became interested. When I went down to get her, everyone (except one very nice red headed lady) made a big deal about me keeping her as an outside dog, hello she is huge, and should be outside even though that didn't happen and she stayed inside for the week and a half that I had her. Then I receive a call asking me to bring her down to have vet papers completed which I did. While I was there, I was informed that the dog was being sent to a rescue shelter in Minisota and will be leaving this Saturday. WHAT????I I said we love her and why can't we keep her, you all told me that you would not adopt her out without contacting me first, I was told that the director (whoever that is) made a mistake and there is nothing they can do about it. I ask them to contact the rescue shelter and tell them that the dog had a good home and we wanted to keep her. They wouldn't even do that. I took the dog back home for my children to say goodbye and returned the dog to them this morning. Cried all the way back home. I will NEVER go back again. I thought I was doing something good and it turned out to be anger and heartache for my family. two of the four people that I dealt with were some of the rudest I have encountered. They really need to get their act together.

Once a dog is promised to a rescue, they won't reverse it; they're afraid of damaging the relationship and jeopardizing any future rescues. I agree that the foster should get first refusal before the animal is promised (or sold, essentially) to a rescue or another adopter; it's very easy to fall in love in that time, and the animal could end up with a great home without all the trauma of being transported to a strange place. I hope they can get their act together, but I haven't heard great things about the new management so far. They really can't afford to alienate people who ARE inclined to help them.

We need to do what other counties have done. Split the Humane Society away from the State law that requires the County to have a dog pound.

We taxpayers give over $100,000 to the Humane Society each year while we have battered women shelters, homeless human being, soup kitchen etc getting about $5,000 each. Something is wrong here.

The County and City needs to divest itself from the Humane Society. It is a guaranteed negative no matter who or what Board runs it. There are no winners.

The craze a$$ volunteers want a no kill shelter. I say allow it to happen. Lets pull our funding away, have all animals taken to the dog pound first. Then after X amount of days, allow the humane society to come by and get the ones they want and euthanize the others. They can take them all or pick and choose.

We have to do something so we can move forward

What crazy a$$ voluntures want a no kill shelter? They don't have any money and if they're part of the old bunch that made the paper leaving the shelter thousands of dolars in the red they won't be many inteligent donations.

Sadly, not every dog that comes into that shelter is adoptable. Other shelters (even those that aren't rescues) do "cherry-pick" the ones that are likely to be adopted -- chosen for temperament, size, breed, looks, health, age, etc.-- and only those are offered. I would prefer to see less of an emphasis on being "no kill," which simply isn't realistic in a town full of redneck criminal drug dealers breeding and selling pits by the hundreds, to being "no suffering." Don't crowd them into tiny cages, stress them out, torture them, make them stay there for months, and THEN kill them. Take them home for a day (if temperamentally suited), spoil them, love them, then send them on their way. It doesn't have to be cruel or brutal. And for heaven's sake do something about all the idiots who breed and don't spay and neuter.

What Franklin County Needs is another shelter. There just isn't enough room at either of the current shelters to house all the homeless animals in our county alone. So either the Humane Society needs to get a new building or a new shelter needs to be built and Frankfort would have three. But at least the animals would have a home and the euth rate wouldn't be so high for Franklin County

There could be 5 shelters and it wouldn't stop the killing if people don't spay and neuter. Many let their indoor/outdoor cats multiply, dogs are backyard bred, females in heat are left outside, and people let their unaltered animals run loose. Sometimes even the pet that "never goes outside without me" gets slipped the willy and ends up pregnant. No amount of shelters will stop the killing. And what if another shelter starts up here? They will probably accept animals from outside of Franklin County and just saturate our community with even more homeless animals. Instead lets push the low cost spay and neuter options so people will hopefully do the right thing.

OK! something isn't as it appears in Franklin Co. We supposly have all of these caring animal lovers but at the same time most do not respect nore take care of their pets fully. Everybody wants a NO KILL shelter but 90% doesn't do a damn thing to prevent the overcrowding & do not get their animals fixed. They are all talk! Tough times calls for tough measures. Go ahead & make it a LAW that pet owners must spay/neuter their pets by breeding age or pay a steep fine & a little jail time until the pet is fixed. Breeders need to have a liscense & need to keep track of all the animals they sell until they have proof that the animals have been fixed by a certain age or turn the buyers in to authoritys for prosecution. The fines need to be a strong deterent & a message sender to all the other pet owners that having a pet means being responsible. It can be done but we need leaders to take the step & put an end to this absurdness.

Yes Victor is two faced and Nancy is clueless but you are not a real animal lover to start this forum. You could have slammed Nancy or Victor with many other facts rather than bringing a innocent dog into it.

Im new to town and just stumbled across this. I visited the shelter and Nancy and Victor as well as everyone else was very friendly. I wish people took all the energy they spent in criticizing other people and used that to help the animals. Lets talk about what really matters. Also how much of a special person it takes to actually work at a kill shelter. Good job FCHS employees I know I couldnt do your job, thank you for working tward making Frankfort a better place for all animals.

First of all, I know Victor personally and I find it absolutely appalling that ANYONE would say a nasty word about him. That man gets up every morning and goes to work to help innocent animals find loving homes. He has a purpose in this life and he chose to make his passion a reality. I know that he's happy with the life he leads, and that is what everyone on this earth is looking for. Don't get upset with him because you haven't found that yet. I hope that someday you can become half the man he is, because then you wouldn't be so intolerant and hateful...and I also hope you gain a quarter of his muscle, because if you go down there and start some shit, I hope you pack a big fuckin' lunch, honey, because you won't come out walking.
