Mother charged for doing cocaine during her pregnancy

A mother is accused of using cocaine while pregnant. A Franklin County grand jury indicted Jennifer Hazlett on Wednesday. She now faces first degree wanton endangerment and first degree possession of cocaine charges. State police arrested her Thursday morning and she is now in the Franklin County jail. State police, the Department of Families and Children and the Franklin County Attorney's office began investigating Hazlett in September. State police say the investigation revealed Hazlett continuously used cocaine during her pregnancy and gave birth to a baby girl weighing two pounds and 15 ounces. Medical records revealed the baby tested positive for cocaine. State police say they are still investigating the case.

It's about time they start prosecuting mothers that do drugs during thier pregnancy! I hope and pray the baby recovers.

This really makes me SICK! The reason I am so upset about this is because my husband's ex-girlfriend was using cocaine the whole time she was pregnant as well. His daughter, who is pretty much mine, is now 8 years old and when she was born, she was born COCAINE POSATIVE! They sent her mother to REHAB as soon as she was released from the hospital, and after 2 months there, she got out and has had FULL CUSTODY of her daughter ever since. She is a METHAMPHETAMINE ADDICT and has been for the past 15 years. She will never get clean. What is so sad about this is that my husband and I have tried to get custody of his daughter for the past 5 years, and they will not let us have her. Even though her mother is a METH addict. Makes me sick. This Hazelett girl will get off, and then she will get her child, so don't be surprised. Child services is too busy taking calls from stupid people who call in false reports. I could go on, and on and on about this.

I don't know if you all know this but in one news story about this, she is being indicted because this is the SECOND child she has delivered that was positive for cocaine. The first child was born 2 years before the latest. This woman is a disgrace and she should rot in prison.

I went to school with this girl. I would love to beat her ass and give her a reality check. It makes me so sick that people do this to there children. These baby suffer because of there mothers addictions. There are tons of people out there who would love to have children that can't,then you have low lifes like this who does have children and there babies are born suffering. The baby is in my prayers. i hope this girl stays in jail and never gets her kids back, she def. dont deserve them. I could go on for days :(

I know someone that did drugs while pregnant, pain pills. Her baby was sick in the hospital for a month after birth going threw with drawls, they did NOTHING to her. She still has her kid, they didnt even investigate.

wow.... anyone know about lil miss alyssa perez... she need help bad. i hope them babies find a stable home and not to mention just recently she had a miscarrige... the hospital told her that she was pregnant and to stop smokin crack cuz the babies heart beat was faint.... well she aint quit and the baby dead now... i heard they tryna get her for murder or somethin... that girl is awful and she need Jesus in her life.. and so does her mom.. she aint no different

Ok people don't get confused because there are two women facing the same charges. Samantha Johnson was charged first then the Hazlett woman. Samantha is being charged for 2 kids out of her three and Hazlett just has been charged for one child.
