I read awhile back there was a theft of over $200,000 worth of copper from the Nidec building. There was a comment in the Time they thought they "knew" who was behind it. How does a theft like this happen? There had to of been a person or persons visible taking this material off of the property. We as tax paying citizens deserve answers on this.

I totally agree plus I was told that the city did not have insurance on that building so guess what we the tax payers are going to have to pay for that loss. What kind of administration buys a piece of property of such value and not have insurance. One that does not have the knowledge or wisdom to know any different. I'm not going to buy it was a oversite or that the city thought it was covered under the city's insurance our infamous leader should have checked that out before purchasing this property.

Interesting they did not have insurance. I was not aware of that. I thought insurance was legally required? This entire situation sounds very strange to me. Even more interesting the paper has not printed any further stories regarding this. Do they expect the tax payers to turn their heads the other way?

Yes they do because remember if you say anything negative or challenge this administration your a hater. And the times print anything negative come on we are paying a PR person to make sure that doesn't happen. I believe I'm going to start going to the BOW and Council meetings.

Apparently you people are not completely in the know. They do have insurance, not just the theft coverage piece.

How they can justify not having that is way beyond me though.

Regardless the fact this happened. How could they not know someone was going in there and stealing copper. There is no way this was an in and out job. The comment in the Times article was the "believe" they know who may of committed the crime.
Very sad the tax payers will be handed the bill on this one!

Let me take a moment to Explain the WHOLE situation to you ALL. THIS is NOT a City Endeavoras MUCH as THIS my friends is County Councilman ALAN DUNN ALSO known as AirPort Authortity PRESIDENT ALAN DUNN'S MESS. In the September 16, 2013 Commissioners Board meeting, Mr Dunn was asked POINT Blank. "WHY did you NOT have INSURANCE on that Building"? Mr. Dunn's Answer was "It was ALWAYS being THOUGHT of as a building to be RAIZED". THEN in the SAME breath he stated "HOWEVER, WE have a "Hand shake" proposal from an exsisting business out in the industrial area to LEASE the building as SOON as we put $235,000 back INTO the building to bring it BACK up to the ABILITY to be Leased" THe STATEMENT was Brought up.. YOu have a $1.8 Million dollar TAXPAYER BOND on that place NOW that is GUARENTEED for 8 years to the SHAREHOLDERS at 2.44% to be PAYED by the TAXPAYERS through Levee. You NOW Want the Taxpayers to pay $235,000.00 to replace what was STOLEN out of there so you can Lease the building? This was his Answer and the County COUNCIL NOT the Commissioners - COUNCIL COMMENDED Him for his ANSWER!: "YES, The Company will bring in $45,000 per year taxes for the place and will employ SIX employees". You say it SMELLS? To HIGH Heaven!
