That a city would want to block jobs out. Unless they felt the dollars would leave Schultzs and go to Krogers.

Frankly, Shultzs has good meat, great service, and friendly employees.

One would think that competition would be good for business, but then again this is Frankfort and we have to protect our own businesses.

Too bad they ran off Menards.

I agree, it's to bad that a certain guy on the city council and a owner of the local IGA can rally other council members into not supporting Kroger while all long pretending to have the city's best interest at heart. McBarnes needs to take control as the leader of the city and welcome a new business and tax payer to the city and stop the City Council from feeding the people of Frankfort a bull story. Any fool can see whats going on here, it's just to bad the Council is playing games. One has to wonder if the Mayor is serious about bring jobs to Frankfort or will he lay down and let the Council roll over him .

Who's to say that Kroger won't bring in other businesses too? I don't think Kroger will run off IGA's business. IGA has the best meat department in the county and they are the only store on the westside. If anything Kroger will give Walmart a run for their money which is what needs to happen. Walmart is getting ridiculous and a little to smug. Having said that...Eric needs to dismiss himself from any decisions made regarding Kroger since this is a personal (conflict) interest. Clinton County needs the jobs and I can't imagine that he wouldn't want to support it. It does seem that the only businesses allowed in are the ones that won't conflict with existing businesses because certain persons are on these boards and stop them. Time will tell!!!

I bet krogers would not want us to give them a building, remodel it, and parking lot as a bonus... All for free.

Yep, lets turn them away.

Ridiculous!!!

I thank it would be great to have a new store in town it would create new jobs and possibly lower some prices in other stores. So let krogers come in. I think we need another lumber company in town to like a menards or lowes. We will see if this group let's it happen. We are watching!

I know people who drive to Lebanon to shop at Kroger. It would be nice if we could keep that money here in Frankfort.

I think the Scoreboard bar would have been great downtown but hey, wasn't that blocked by a certain Mayor? Wouldn't it have been good competition for Main St? Its all about ones own agenda....

Didn't both the mayor and Shan Sheridan both boast about a new grocery coming to town, only to now back track? Guess Mr. Woods got to them perhaps.

The way I see it it's a no brainer. Kroger is willing to come here, build a nice new building, provide much needed jobs and hopefully cause other businesses to follow. If they do up and leave we still have a nice new building that someone else would have no problem setting up shop in.

I for one am sick and tired of elected officials being so self serving. And yes I do vote! Problem is...my candidate doesn't always win. As long as local business owners continue to be on these boards or serve as elected officials it will never change. Of course they don't want competition and shame on anyone who doesn't veto them! All we hear about is growing the community, bringing in business and here we go again...if it was a JC Penney or Starbucks it would be no problem. I say we can't be choosy! It's time to sto the political crap and start thinking about the public and their needs!

was a lot more said in the meeting than what was in the newspaper because i dont see any of this from the story i read. its my understanding the city or county can not stop a business from coming in unless the property is not zoned for it. is that the case here because surely the old kmart property is zoned for business?. it sounds more like kroger want tax breaks. i wonder if they got tax breaks the first time they built in town?

Do you live in the same Clinton county that the rest of us do? 30,000 plus of us have seen businesses denied "access" to ground and or buildings for various stupid reasons.

And yes, Sharron Bardoner isn't going to let you know everything. Otherwise she would have told you all about the loss of serious revenue, the farmers bank loan, and the failure of the alive one 65 program. What's even sadder is that story is nothing compared to the real screwy things that are happening in this town and county.

No, life is clearer because we don't bow down the people who paid for our election. We live in a world of reality.

Obviously you have more money than brains or common sense.
