Recently heard that Mike MacLaughlin, the principal of FMS, has been unceremoniously fired by Mr. Bivens and now there are reports the FHS athletic director and longtime teacher/coach Ed Neihaus will not have his contract renewed, effectively firing him as well. Earlier this year Mr. Bivens forced Kim Becker, former principal at Suncrest Elementary, out the door as well.

It is my understanding that all of these situations occurred with little or no interaction between the affected parties and Mr. Bivens himself. Our cowardly school board just rubber stamps these decisions with no debate or discussion shown in the public record.

I urge all Frankfort citizens to vote out these clowns on the school board and let a new board find a real superintendent who care more about educating our children than building his own personal fiefdom.

i was also quite disappointed in the news of the school boards hiring of bivens. i'm not speaking ill of the man but they knew he was only good for a couple years and by not living here he does not really have to be accountable to the people. we need sup who lives in the community it serves and will stay in the job long-term!

I agree with the gist of your comments, except for Neihaus. He a jerk and an a**hole who wasn't worth a damn as a coach and is even worse than Caplinger or Dick Ricker as A.D. and that's pretty bad. Only thing he's good at is self-promoting and golddigging.

According to the Times most if not all of the current FHS coaches support Mr. Neihaus and the time/energy/support he is putting into FHS athletics. Sometimes a jerk and an a**hole in the right position is good thing.

If he's in the right position, then how come so many losing teams. Oh yeah, I know, winning isn't everything. I wish Everett Case or Phil Buck were around and I'd bet no second rate flunky like Nohouse would be. All those coaches, except maybe Warthan, support Nohouse because they are held to the same low standard of expectation he has. A losing A.D. begets losing coaches, always has always will. Well at least he finally moved to Frankfort after living in Hamilton County for years. Ah, but that's another interesting story.

I believe Mr. Neihaus retired from coaching with a winning record. And an A.D. can't make a team win, that is up to the coaches and athletes. Wouldn't you agree?

And please elaborate on this 'interesting story' if you can.

Who is the coaches direct superior? I do believe the coaches are directly supervised by the A.D. and his winning record was certainly accomplished by the players. His coaching abilities are/were laughable. Ask any girl who played for him and then went on to play ball in college and they will set you straight. Or for that matter, ask any girl who ever played for him basketball or tennis and they will all tell you he couldn't coach a biddy ball team. Fire him and good riddance. By the way he was an even worse teacher.

Punjab - well done! You finally took a firm stand on a community issue and did not simply as "do you have any proof?"

I have no respect for our current school board members based on their past decisions. To elaborate would fill this entire board.

However, I agree they need to wake up and get rid of Bivens. I was dismayed to hear recently that school adminstrators (who desirve credit for improving FHS) have been told not to speak to the MEDIA and all such communication must come thru Bivens. How absurd!

Frankfort School Board Members - WAKE UP PLEASE. Clean up your own mess for once. You hired BIVENS, now get rid of him.

Does Bivens actually have that kind of power to silence the school board? Isn't the school board like a counter power to Bivens? If the superintendent went psycho and decided to do a lot of crazy stuff can't the school board step in and stop him? Kind of like the president and the congress. One entity overseeing the other.

If this is the case then why would the school board be intimidated by Bivens? These school board officials are in elected positions, not hired by Bivens and therefore they shouldn't have any worries about retaliation. Or it could be that they too are clueless and have no sense of direction and therefore rely on Bivens for that direction.

The school board hired Bevins. The board is running the show. They are showing the community they can do whatever they want.

The school board knew exactly what they were getting with Bivens. They wanted someone from outside the community, who had no long term interest in living here and being a part of Frankfort. The man was brought in to make MAJOR changes to the school system. He is doing just that (for good and bad). The school board is probably pretty pleased with themselves. If you don't like it, vote for someone else for school board next time.

And that is exactly what will happen. We will have a complete turn over with the school board. They are breaking the golden rule, CHILDREN FIRST!

Why are policies being made by the board, that the public doesn't hear the contents, until it is passed? How can I possibly contact my elected board member and tell him my views?

According to this morning's Frankfort Times the matter of Mr. McLaughlin and Mr. Neihaus concerning the immediate cancellation of their contracts is on the school board's agenda for their meeting on 1/11 at 6pm. I encourage all those who support these fine educators to attend the meeting and make yourself heard. Mr. Bivens does not have the right to run roughshod over our schools without due cause and evidence. So far I have seen neither.

How do you know, do you work for the school?

No, I do not work for the school. Such information, if it exists, has not been released to the public. One can hope it comes to light at Tuesday's school board meeting.

I have heard nothing as to why Mr. Bivens wants to fire Mr. McLaughlin. As for Mr. Neihaus, I have heard that Mr. Bivens wishes to change the school corporation substance abuse policy as it pertains to athletes and that Mr. Neihaus opposes such a change. So logically the easiest way for Mr. Bivens to get his way is to fire Mr. Neihaus, change the policy before a new AD is hired, then hire a new AD.

We all know how the school board is going to vote. They will go along with the super since they are all spineless and can't stand up for what is right.

They were the same way with Caress.

Some of the most worthless bunch of individuals I have ever seen. The election time for these people can't get here fast enough.

This is the poorest excuse for a school board ever. Huddleston acts high and mighty like he's running the show. He kissed Caress' ass and so did the rest of them. Bill Smith was totally spineless in his day too. One current member was fired by CSF and another was the worst educator at FHS for years. Bivens has no business making demands of an Athletic Director in regards to wins and losses. His job is to organize and oversee the department and he does a hell of a job. (I know because I'm there) Bivens needs to worry about financial issues and ISTEP scores not our athletics. Remember Huddleston and the rest come election time. The super needs to work for the board not the other way around.

Bivens is the one they need to hold the vote on.
