I have read some posts on this sight, and I'll say I try to form my own opinions. I want to commend the Mayor on his address to the students last evening. There were 200+ people including students, parents and staff. Obviously some of you see him much differently but I was very impressed as the speech he delivered powerfully was so right and so true. He had the attention of everyone in that room. Even my 11 year old listened attentively.

Next time I see posts bashing the Mayor at every turn, I will certainly look at them with very differently. Especially the one about him finding his dad a better job, who wouldn't if they could? I urge all of you who haven't heard him speak to do so. There's a big difference between a manager and a leader. That was the speech of a leader. A leader is someone who inspires others to over achieve and do there best work. Thank You Mr McBarnes for coming and speaking to our gathering, honestly I don't know if your a democrat or republican and it doesn't matter. Keep up the good work. Inspiring young people every time you get a chance can't even get bashed on this site.

He totally sucked us in too! He is a good speaker/talker. Period! If that is your only dealing with him I can see how you were impressed, but disagree with him in anyway and you will see someone exactly like your 11yr old son.

I'll let you know. Because I do disagree with his USB choice last fall and I am going to ask him about it.

I see you had a tall glass of green kool-aid last night. Drink up!

He majored in communications so I'd hope to hell he was a good speaker.

But like the comment made above, avoid his koolaid at all costs. He's a Jim Jones kind of person. Many of his followers were able to receive the antidote of truth before it was too late.

Consider yourself, as well as other readers on here, warned.

He may take care of the kids but he sure as hell doesn't take care of his employees, unless of course you are the Public Relations person. Lets see, the highest paid city employees would be her, at the tune of 100,000 plus per year. Go figure, she tries to make him look good. The green koolaid has poison in it, stay clear..

Nobody, who is it you believe. A mayor that has the courage to get in front of a city and speak positive about our future as a city, make good things happen. Or people on topix that can't muster any courage, cowards! Listening to people you don't even know in my mind would be foolish. Follow your heart.

Yes, a thorn in the side of all the haters. To all the ones that lost in the election and have turned to hate, who have made it personal. To the ones who said they were promised something for supporting him, which they were not.

Funny, you posting on here, calling people cowards, and no all of the sudden you portray yourself as some sort of Messiah.

This has nothing to do with hate or being promised a position for me, it has to so with him being a liar, and using those lies to manipulate people.

Thanks continuing to be one of us.

Here is a point. You would never call him a liar in public, because you cannot support your statement. That's how cowards work. Say anything you like on topix, it carries no weight. You assume way to much! Hate is always personal.

Sister, you obviously are out of the loop. Many have called him out in public. He had no answers and invoked his smoke and mirrors crapola like Obama and others continue to do.

You've had way too much koolaid and are intoxicated. Stop partaking of that green swill before it's too late.

I was wondering why he was even there. Did he take the time off from work or what? He needs to get back to "his city" and work on some of the grants or some other problem his city doesnt have!
