I seen this wacko at the Clark gas station by factories on 28. Parked in front of doors to the place in passenger seat hanging out door puking guts up.didn't see driver but was apparent she was intoxicated. Such a shame.hope God looks out for thos little ones injured as well for parents.could have been anyone's children including your own.that Is a terrible stretch of road no excuse for drunk driver but being 8:20(dusk) is dangerous to be on a bike adult or kids!!

I don't get how the lady hit them head on? Of all the places to cross over the center line she chose where the kids were? I was going to Walmart around 4:30ish and saw a bad accident as you turn in. Looked like a big box truck hit a truck then somehow a van go involved. They were loading someone into an ambulance...hope they're going to be ok. Does anyone know what happened? It's sad with all the accidents that have happened this past week!

Maybe if the police would actually arrest the drunks instead of driving them home, tragedies like this would be less. Or the favors they give to their drunk buddies. My buddy got hit twice only cuz the police had a vendetta against him. He was wrong for drinking and driving but lets treat all citizens the same.

Yeah, let's certainly not put the blame where it belongs..on the drunks. How was your buddy hit twice because of a vendetta? lol Doesn't even make sense.

It really doesn't matter if the kids were riding a bike, walking a bike, if the road was busy, it being dusk or they were on the wrong side of the road etc... The fact is: the woman was under the influence, intoxicated- whether it contributed to the accident or not- which it likely did. She will feel the full force of the gavel come down upon her and rightly so. Her life was changed in an instant, the lives of her family also ruined forver. The lives of these children and their grieving parents has been changed forever. A travesty. It reminds me to watch the road constantly, never take your eyes off for a second, avoid cell phone use. A life can be changed in a second. My heart breaks over this. It is all I can think of since it happened, and of the gentleman and his wife who were killed in the same area on the motorcycle. I shows how precious life is and the fragility of it.

I feel terrible for the kids and hope that they make a speedy recovery. This drunk driving crap is really a money maker for the state. look at how much it costs for someone to get out of jail that has been arrested for DUI. There are numerous ways to control the drinking problem in this country but then the city county and state would miss out on tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, bail money etc.

And just for the record again...... they were on the way home... half the main roads in Frankfort are highways you people must drive your kids every moment during the summer god forbid they walk anywhere. And 820 in the summer isn't dusk. It doesn't start to her dark until almost 10.

It doesn't matter if it was dark, morning, cold, hot, what matters is these poor children were hit by a drunk driver! It's not illegal to be out at night or what side of the road your on but it is illegal to drink and drive and to run off the road and hit these children changing there lives forever!
I understand people mess up but heather McDaniel does not learn from her mistakes and obviously has no remorse because she keeps on drinking! If she would of learned the first few times these children would be living happy lives, instead they're living a nightmare. Tonya you are a great mother and I pray for you and your children to to get through this with strength, and faith!
