Well please continue the conversation then. What are your passions? What beliefs do you stand most firm on? What shall we debate about? I'm curious to see what drives you... Bring the heat and I'll bring the ice ;)...

Fire and Ice: Theologically speaking, why is it that innocent children and genuinely good people die, while criminals, serial killers continue to exist? Is this the will of God or nature? Why does this happen? Take for instance, a child at Riley with cancer suffers then passes on- never being able to experience the life they have before them. Someone like Ariel Castro's heart is still beating, albeit probably not for long once someone in person gets a hold of him. Why do the evil ones who walk this planet not have some of the maladies of the innocent?

Food for thought: Case in point- The Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy. No matter how many mental health services are available (which are not many) we will never be able to control random acts of violence such as this. Do we arm all teachers? What about arming professors in the universities, case in point Virginia Tech.

"Food for thought"

This post in particular heaves something I have struggled with personally. Last year there was a FBI agent that subsequently was taking all of the law classes that I was taking.. He always came to school everyday with his gun strapped and visible, for some reason he always chose to sit right night to me.. At this time it was closes I had ever been to a gun before, I was scared, I was anxious, thoughts clouded my mind.. I often wondered if a nut job would freak out and take his gun and shoot us all.. After about half of the year and getting to know this person, I changed my views and navigated towards the benefit of the presence of his weapon.. In short I am for the presence of weapons for teachers.. Before last year, I would have cringed at the thought of it..

It truly breaks my heart to see an innocent child suffer. Why would God allow evil to survive and innocent to diminish? With the assumption that God created all, one would have to assume it was his intention to allow an innocent child to die, why? They say it is because everything happens for a reason and that God never puts more on our shoulders than we can handle. God gave us the foundation and through many aspects, foundations are shaken.. I have no answer for the reason this evil is allowed to occur theoretically.. Now when we delve into the nature aspect we have solids to evaluate, such as genetics and behaviors as a whole.. One can only assume that DNA plays a huge role in every aspect of our individual selves.. I have done many studies and research on the genetic mutation of cells, I do not know why it occurs, however, I do know that some DNA is strong enough to fight the mutations and some is not.. Somewhat of a survival of the fittest, you could say.. As for the serial killers and true evil people that live in this world, I truly believe that is a social phycology indifference within the brain itself. Do you believe serial killers are born evil or do you think it is a graduated behavior?

Good response, I believe the psyche of a serial killer develops due to a culmination of many things such as socioeconomic factors and genetic influences. Some may be born with a propensity towards violence and/or mental illness based on DNA. However, if they have positive influences in their life, then this may never surface- but we also know that many of these people come from good families. This is not any easy question to answer, and if the causative factors were known, then we could hopefully quell a multitude of problems in our society. Autopsies performed on serial killers show the brain is uniquely different, the frontal lobes in particular- which squelch impulses and drives, seems to have gone haywire. Is it possible for environmental factors to override the DNA or visa versa? Your thoughts?

It is almost impossible to control the interaction between DNA and environmental aspects when evaluating a serial killer. Yes it is true that most serial killers suffer a trauma or injury from the orbital frontal cortex to the posterior cingulate cortex. In general psychopaths suffer from anti social disorders and have endured physical and or emotional abuse.. How do we control a psychopaths sense of entitlement? They lack remorse, they are apathetic to others, unconscionable, manipulative, conning, and flat out cold in general.. Did you know when you raise a psychopaths self-esteem it consequently increases aggression? They are remorseless predators who use charm and intimidation, this goes for all psychopaths not just serial killers... If it is true that psychopaths are born with their evil genetic make-up then why is it that some can control their desires and some can not? It is said that morality plays a role in each individual as a whole.. What brings fear to these type of people? Does fear itself drive their desire to commit crime? Is it the crime itself that psychopaths derive pleasure or is it the process leading up to the crime? Or is it the mark of accomplishment after they committed the crime?
