Another stupid ass move by the superintendent. Students will attend school until June 4th with graduation being pushed back until June 7th.
Superintendent didn't bother to apply for the State Waiver. Would this be because every school in his district scored way below average? Yet another calculated move to save his ass?
Rossville schools did a phone survey with the parents. They listened to their students and parents concerns and accommodated. But then again Rossville schools scores well in the State.
I get no one will be happy with whatever decision is made. But I applaud Rossville schools for listening to their students and parents.
Hmm, the 'Hot Dog Chatter' email I get every school day from FHS says this concerning the waiver: "This schedule uses 1 waiver day for BR/GM students due to closure caused by broken water pipes."
That said, are you saying that CSF should have made up the 180 instruction days by holding school on Saturdays? Cancelling spring break?
Also from this article from WILO's 'news site': http://www.clintoncountydailynews.com/communi...
"Board members originally thought having school on Saturday or an extra hour each day would be the best way to make up the days. However, after thinking it over and hearing from constituents, they thought otherwise. In fact, they never even considered the two new proposals they had DeWeese come up with in the interim. Board President Carol Bartley cast the lone dissenting vote stating her big concern was the moving of graduation to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7. The Community Schools of Frankfort have made up two of the eight days they have to make up. Other make up days will be held on April 18, May 29, May 30, June 2, June 3 and June 4. DeWeese said the district will use one of the waivers they were granted by the state for the extra day that Blue Ridge and Green Meadows missed because of a broken water main."
Sound like the decision was made by the school board, not Mr. DeWeese.
