Well here is everyone's chance to voice their opinion about the $20 million the schools want to lay burden on the tax payers for improvements. Dare anyone speak up and stand up to this school board and superintendent? We all know they will do as they please like they have in the past.

Another scandal as well to hit CSF the FMS principal busted for DUI over the weekend. Didn't they just hire this guy to replace the last principal there that was caught up in a scandal?

Getting arrested for owi isn't a scandal. It's someone making a bad decision. But I'm guessing you've never done that before have you?

I sure as hell have never been behind the wheel intoxicated. So we are not to hold a person of his position to a higher standing? See if this move costs him his job. As the school stated in a press release pending investigation.

I agree that he should be held to a higher standard however lets not go overboard and call it a scandal. A scandal usually involves a cover up of some sort. This man was arrested for 2 misdemeanor owi charges and has already issued a statement showing his remorse and looks like he's willing to accept the consequences. I have never been behind the wheel intoxicated either but I'd like to think if I ever made that mistake my life wouldn't be over because of it.

What does this have to do with needed repairs and renovations to a deteriorating high school building?

Who here has seen the boiler room at FHS? The electrical room? The steam tunnels? It's all running with machines and technology decades old. Spare parts are so difficult to find that some have be be custom made, which takes a large amount of time and at a huge expense. The heating system is so inefficient that the heating fuel bill for FHS is more than than FMS, Suncrest, & Blue Ridge/Green Meadows buildings combined.

From http://www.clintoncountydailynews.com/frankfo...

"Frankfort High School is over 50 years old and it is showing its age. Students and teachers are often uncomfortable. When it’s excessively hot, FHS has had to dismiss early (it’s not air-conditioned). In the winter, it’s often cold and drafty (due to limited insulation, single pane windows). Students, teachers and administration can “dress in layers” during the cold months of winter – but maybe it’s time we ask ourselves:
“Is this the learning environment that we want for our students and teachers?”
Due to the age and condition of the electrical, heating, plumbing and roofing systems, taxpayers are paying a lot of money each year for repair, maintenance work and ongoing utility costs. The 2010 study by KJG determined the majority of these systems are now beyond their normal service life and in need of replacement. Given what we hear in the news today, upgrades are needed to further improve the safety of occupants, and, most of the building has no fire protection system in place.
We cannot avoid this work (or, the associated costs)– we can only put it off longer (and it will cost even more).
Recognizing this situation and how it impacts the entire use of the facility, including student learning, earlier this year the school board requested an independent committee made up of residents from the community evaluate this situation, and then provide well thought-out recommendations back to the board as to what, if anything should be done. We’ve done the majority of our work, but before we offer our recommendations, it’s time to hear from you.
The Hot Dog High Study Committee invites you to this community meeting for further discussion.
We’d like to briefly share some results of our evaluation about the current condition of our high school – and some alternatives it may be appropriate to consider. Then, we want to hear your comments about what you believe should be done. Please note your comments, suggestions and concerns during this meeting will be directly included within our final recommendations to the school board. Thank hot dog you in advance for participating in this important discussion…
On behalf of The Hot Dog High Study Committee,
Rick Gunyon and John Milholland."

Ok, let the character assassinations of Mr. Gunyon and Mr. Milholland begin.......

Which ever it may be, a scandal or bad decision, he needs to be gone. But then again we live in a time where nobody is held accountable.

I was at the meeting last night in the FHS cafeteria. Very informative. The committee will recommend to the CSF school board that the FHS building be renovated, along with an additional eight classrooms added onto the existing building. They did not recommend building a new high school.

Ballpark figure for this project is 15-30 million, depending on exactly what is done.

A question was raised about the estimated property tax increase for a project this size. One of the committee members stated that they estimated if you own a home with an assessed value of $100,00 you will pay $12 more a month in property taxes. This is based on the project coming in at the top end of 30 million.

I agree the high school needs a lot of repairs and a new school at this time is not what the tax payers need. My question is, each year the budget is set up by the school board, so what has happened to the school's budget for maintenance and repair?
Yep

That's ok 'Yep'. We knew about it too.

I say they ask for donations in the form of pledges, have CCEAF oversee the program, have Gill Construction run the project, then ask the county for a loan when they don't have all the money collected for it.

Of course Punjab was there. That's what republican politicians and their handlers do. Thanks to Mr. Punjab for saving our schools.

Now how about putting together a program for retirement community your buddy wants.

No improvements to athletic facilities were mentioned. If an improvement such as artificial turf for the football is part of a plan that is brought before the community for a referendum then I will vote against it.

Why do you care, coward? As a supposed resident of Forest any suggested improvement plans for FHS are 100% none of your business.

Stick to criticizing Clinton Central. But then again there is nothing which that organization would do that you don't approve of and slurp right up. Correct?

Hispanics would like to see the current school fall under the wrecking ball. A new, much larger school is needed for the increase in hispanic population. I think the taxes should increase 4X ANY current estimate to get a good school. What is good for hispanics, is good for America!!!

Coward???

As a supposed resident of Washington St, you have room to talk. Oh wait you're a resident of Frankfort today. That's the great registered bullshit you constantly spew, isn't it? Hang it up you dummy.

Do you seriously think every freaking dime your school system gets comes from the city taxpayer only? You need to go back to school you fool.

That's all you got??? Slurp it up? I can easily admit that our board and schools have it's issues. You're morons have made our people look like angels.

I don't live on Washington St. You are about 0-1000 regarding who you think I am. What a cowardly fool.

Ok genius, tell me how much YOUR taxes will rise if a $25 million bond is issued for renovations of FHS. I don't recall the property taxes for my home in Frankfort increasing when Clinton Prairie recently spent a few million on installing A/C, upgrading their wastewater treatment facility, and building a new fieldhouse. Did YOUR taxes go up for that project?

Interesting. What issues have you had with the Clinton Central school board?

You registered fake named account showed you residing in Washington State. But you've probably slept since then.

Sorry your education can't help you understand how the tax system works.

My issues with our school board??? Come to our meetings and you can hear them first-hand.

The posting location displayed by Topix will vary depending on where you actually posted from and what ISP you are using at the time. Not all of us live in our Mom's basement like you do out in Forest.

Nice dodge, it's clear that I know more about how the property tax system works than you do. You have zero answers.

Again, another dodge. You obviously have never been to a CC school board meeting.

Any other lies you want to dodge today? You are batting .000

Nice try dipshit. You know nothing. Of course others have already identified that.

I just wanted to reiterate it for our new readers.
