Sounds like Ivy Tech needs to cough up some money to pay their fair share of the expenses for the building.

Guess the city is tapped out. Mayor Mcbarnes and his cronies should be the ones responsible for coughing up the money.

650k is a boatload of money. Shan Sheridan should know about six figure loans.

If the commissioners pony up this kind of cabbage for a loan, they will be ridiculed and replaced in the upcoming elections.

Didn't this job get bid on? If so, how in the hell are they off $650,000? Sounds like Stan the man was just a little off..

It is sad to be $650,00 short on Ivy Tech, and sending Bill Beard to ask for it. Sure some probably did not send their pledges, but I do not see how it could be that much. Why could they come up that short, now where is it coming from? The County council will be the ones to say yes or no on this one. Besides they rule the money and okay it. Just like City Council does for the City. The mayor can only ask. And Shan spends money like they have it. WOW

When I heard that Ivy Tech had opened a school there in Frankfort. I thought it was the best thing that could ever happen. Many of the students who live in Frankfort would never have the chance to attend a college due to many circumstances. It absolutely should be made a priority, and maybe even offer GED classes so that many young people who thought they had better plans than finishing school could get that chance to get that diploma. I am not full of knowledge about how the funding occurs or where it comes from and dont pretend to have that information. I do know that grants and pell grants pay for a lot of students who other wise could not afford to attend.
KEEP IVY TECK INTACT!!!!!
Its a step forward in our community , and if you do not feel that way......makes a person wonder just what you want for the community as a whole.

I for one would like for you and your band of followers to come up with the extra $650,000... And for as what I want for a community as a whole, well that would be for the city not to be broke. Maybe CCEAF can buy this building as well.. Oh wait, Stan the man is over seeing this project, Gill Construction. No wonder they are short money..

This person thinks a school should have some skin in the game. It's BS that they want more taxpayers money when Ivy Tech is a state funded school

So the city and county pay the salaries of the instructors and support staff? The city and county also pay for IVT's support structure in regards to class scheduling, finanacial aid, etc.?

Are you saying that you do not think having this community college here is a good thing or that it is mismanaged? There is a difference.
We are all entitled to our feelings and yes they vary. I believe that anything to help with education in the community can only be a good thing. I cant see it as a negative in any form.
As I mentioned I do not know the business part of it. I never would pretend to. I only stand behind my opinion that having the college here will provide a chance for people to attend college who otherwise would not get the chance. Who knows the long term effect, maybe the children now (with the poor sat scores) will look up to the adults in their life who choose to go to college and just maybe they will begin to see education as a good thing.
Im ignorant to the money matters. I didnt even know that IVY TECH didnt pay for it themselves. I never realized it. Sorry for my ignornace on the subject.

I don't believe anybody thinks a college/college education is a bad thing at all.. With that being said, the city/county shouldn't be spending 2 million in tax payer money to make this happen, after all, this is a state funded college already.. Which means you already pay taxes for this community college.

No, your state tax dollars pay for that.... The city just builds and adds on with your tax dollars. But never the less, IVY Tech has nothing in this game, sorry Punjabby...

Yes, fighting shit with shit. The Ivy Tech haters have been doing it ever since the building of the school was announced. They simply refuse to understand that in order to make this community a better place you have to spend money. All they care about is that their streets are paved so they can get to WalMart and buy their cheap, Chinese-produced shit. Or they can get to Aldi when their SNAP accounts are funded or their bogus disability checks come in.

The funny thing is the jokes on them. Ivy Tech is here, it's open. It is educating individuals who want a better live for themselves and their families. The haters have lost, are nothing but bitter about it, and will do most anything to get the place shutdown. They don't care about Frankfort's future, they only care about themselves. They are just too cowardly to admit it. Instead they cry like little children: "Wah, it costs too much!", "Wah, I hate Mayor McBarnes!", "Wah, Mommy comes change my diaper."

Nothing but babies, all of them.

Let's say your kid owns a business. It fails. It has for 10 years. She comes to you and asks for 100k to help it. Are you really gonna give it to her?

lets say she wants to bring her business to Fkt for expansion. She has millions of dollars available to do this. Are you going to give her a building that she made you remodel and lease it back to her on a lease that will take 17 years to recoperate your expenses without any interest?

if you say yes to either of those things, then you sir are a fool.

Spin away political person since that's all you know how to do. Well I guess you know how to run from good questions too, my bad...

Nice try at an apples to oranges comparison, but it fails. And so do you.
