This is clearly a speed-related accident. Therefore the police will be extra determined to show the public that speeding is dangerous and will not be tolerated. They will do this by pulling people over for going 60 in a 55 zone on 294, as if that is in any way the same thing this kid was doing.

Show pictures of the injuries, the car, the blood....maybe that will save a few lives. Lincoln Way and Matteson already show these movies. Did this happen right down the street from Frankfort Sq Elementary?

My prayers go to the families involved.
I agree that underage drinking is wrong, but parents need to keep it real. Do you remember what it was like it high school? In general, it is cool to drink. My parents had a policy that if I was ANYWHERE at ANYTIME and had a few drinks, I hwas not to drive. I had 3 options: stay there and sober up, call a taxi (if no money, go home and they will pay) or call them to pick me up. And the next day, of course there were consequences... but being punished by your parents is a reward compared to the risk of getting behind the wheel and killing yourself or someone else.

I am sorry for the family to loose their son in such a tragic accident. God Bless them. It is just a story that keeps repeating itself. Teenage drinking and driving. Hopefully this will hit home with his friends and they will think about what happened before they get in the car and drive under the influence. It is such a tragedy to read about young teenagers dying over something that could have been prevented. I am sure there is more to this story.

How would you know do you know this kid and his parents..?

That was plain stupid

This is just another case of parents who are not around to teach their children right from wrong. How can anyone feel sorry for him, he made the choice to drive, he made the choice to drink. Thankfully he didn't kill anyone. Hopefully he learns his lesson but it is doubtful.

How would you know this about this boy while your living in PA? I doubt a father would buy his son a car like that knowing that his son didn't have a license. You seem to be making accusations about someone you don't know.

I find it appalling that most of these comments are focused toward how bad these parents are. All of you should be ashamed. These two people are going through the hardest thing that a parent could go through. As a parent you teach, discipline, hope, and pray they make the right decisions. He is 18 years old and young people make stupid mistakes. His mistake just happens to be one that could take his life. If you say that you have not made a mistake that could have put yourself or someone else at risk, I am the first to call you a liar. We all make mistakes... Some are just more harmful than others. Take a moment and get of your salt box and pray for this family and the health of this young man.

Why are people defending the parents??? Yes I know it must be hard for them to see their son like this but if they would have taught the idiot a thing or two about morals and responsibility, they wouldn't have to be seeing him like that! Are these lazy parents who want to be their kid's friend EVER going to learn their lesson? Your kids are laughing behind your backs and have ZERO respect for you - or anyone else (besides themselves) for that matter. Also, yes I am a parent so I know what it is like to raise a kid.

Let me guess....a parent, right! Your kid is probably still in grade school, when your kids get to school let's see how all these people feel, keep throwing stones!!!

Oops, I meant to say when you have a child in High School, you might be thinking differently, unless you are one of those, "oh my, not my kid parents" Oh yes and lazy parent and idiot, nice role model you are for your kids, You are a JOKE, your kids I AM SURE will not respect you.

Teenagers after the age of 16, can be employed what if they were coming home from work. It certainly doesn't excuse the alcohol, and the high powered vehicle slamming into the fence.
Lesson plan when buying vehicle for teenager make sure it only has 4 cylinders. Good gas mileage, and over 30,000 miles on it. I lost a friend of mine in high school to a Firebird, he and two other boys slammed into a tree they were incinerated on impact.
