Why do we need most of these townships? Why isn't the county doing the assessments? They have assessors offices.

Here is another example of the cost and waste in Illinois government. Here is an elected position that is redundant, obsolete, and occupied by someone clearly unfit to do the job, based on the history provided here. How many hundreds more are like this guy around Illinois? We're all paying for them, and eventually their pensions.

The requirement for townships is long past. All work done by townships can be done by county or state functions: assessment(county)general assistance(state) road district(county highway dept). Just look at your township budget and the salaries including benefits for the assessor, supervisor, clerk, highway comm and trustees could be saved plus the cost of their facilities.

Townships are no longer useful. We should refer them to thier political graves.
And now we have allowed some joker to use tax dollars to promote anti-americanism, by attempting to silence a protester due process.

I beg to differ with you.

If my fate were totally left up to the county, nothing would get done.

I would like the township to have all of the road maintenance money in our area.

A couple of years ago a county road project was done so slowly and poorly that the local village had to put up a sign to inform citizens that it was a county road not village.

These commentors obviously do not have Tod Stroger as their county boss.

Of the higher ranking officials in government, a lot of them "know" they are "right" and they also "know" that anyone who dares to question them or their actions is "evil" and "wrong."

In fact they are so firmly convinced that: one, they are "right;" and two, that anyone who dares to question their actions is so extremely "evil" and totally "wrong" -

that therefore they have even decided it is an intelligent and proper use of public tax dollars to spend their time and our tax dollars attacking critics.

i spent several years as a trustee and observed our supervisor recieved a salary of $15,000 annually and held one meeting each month and never had any general assistance requests.

Embarrassing are the repeated actions of Mr. Ruff, an obviously incompetent, racist tool of a south suburbanite.
More embarrassing is the fact that the general populace in the township has:
A) No idea what the roles and responsibilities of the township are.
B) How it execute its functions.
C) Who (other than Ruff) currently serves in an elected position on the township.
It's a shame that folks (those on the message board here excluded) no longer pay attention to government.
If they did, perhaps they'd reconsider giving their votes to this cantankerous, flaccid excuse for a public servant.

Patrick Fitzgerald it looks like they need you in Frankfort Township. Nothing like a coupe of indictments to shake things up a bit.

Ruff is an idiot for using taxpayers' money for his political aim. Get rid of him.

This is all the more reason to eliminate Township level government altogether. Most, if not all, are basically useless and outdated entities anyway.

I moved into Frankfort Township about 15 years ago. I live in an unincorporated part of the township and can't wait to move out.

Ruff has simply assessed my 3 bedroom split level to the point I can no longer afford to live hear.

Thanks, Paul, for nothing. How about if you keep your trinkets you pass out at board meetings and consider that not all of the township residents are as well-off as you.

I had the wonderful opportunity to see Mr. Ruff canvassing my neighborhood in the township car and writing down addresses that had Joe Kral 4x4 posters. I stopped and introduce myself to him and he had nothing to say other than venomous profanities and then give me the finger as he rolled up the window. AWESOME isn't an elected official getting away with verbally abusing a constituent

This is the ultimate manifestation of Illinois politics right down to the deepest levels of local government. How brazen for people like Ruff and his clan of cronies to think they can get away with denying us of the democratic process our very country is founded on. Everyone needs to get the word out and clean house in these upcoming elections. We're all doomed if the same games get played over and over at the taxpayers expense and the detriment of the community.

When Ruff protested signatures on Kral's petition to run for tax assessor one or more of his "buddies" on the Frankfort Township board passed a ruling that if one signature on a page was found to be invalid then they all should be considered invalid. Joe Kral had over 800 signatures and I believe he only needed approx. 550. They could only find around 120 "problem" signatures so they just passed a new rule. Welecome to Frankfort, Illinois. The township needs new people and new politics.

I had a personal experience with Paul Ruff and we had to take him to court to get him to fix our assessment. We won. He could have fixed it in his office the first time we met, especially since we had all required paperwork with us. SOMEONE DOWN THE STREET FROM US HAS TWICE THE SIZE HOUSE AS WE DO AND PAYS HALF THE TAXES WE DO. Does something seem wrong with that -- hell yes. It cost us almost 1,000 dollars to win a battle that should have never happened...INSANE! I have spoken with other people who work for the township and they feel the same way about him. This guy is bad news. He was bad news when he was in joliet too -- why aren't the newspapers talking about that? SAD.

This job should have term limits. I will write in Joe Kral.

We also had to fight the assessment that was given to us -- even though we had all the paperwork required to prove that it was wrong. We have heard this story from so many other residents of frankfort township.

He is the problem. He is a bully. So many people will not talk because he plays dirty.
