The town of franconia is in for some big changes. Is this GOOD or BAD?

In My opinion Franconia has always been a peaceful town with very low crime. I am a native NH resident of the town, 55 years old and feel that our town is doing just fine the way it is.

John Monaghans mission statement was to clean up the town and weed out the bad apples per say. What does this mean for the townspeople of Franconia and the tourist who come here to relax and enjoy the beauty of NH?

In My honest opinion it is "BAD". My mission is to sit back and watch what happens very very closely here in town. My eyes are going to be on this new Chief to watch for any improper actions.

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER McKAY IN OUR TOWN.

DON'T JUST SIT BACK LIKE YOU DID WITH McKAY AND LET THE TOWN BE BULLIED.

Sincerely,

Everett

So sad, look at how hard you tried to create some 'buzz' over your little agenda, and not a single person cares enough to even post a word. Even after you posted the link in the other thread, still nothing. Boo hoo.

Soo sad, you must be crushed. Imma try to squeeze out a tear for you, will that help?

Dear Everett,

I'm not sure where the quote "clean up the town and weed out the bad apples" came from or if another quote was misunderstood. I would encourage you to call me or meet with me should you have any concerns that I will be unfair, mean or a bully. It is simply not my style.
I'd be happy to meet you for coffee and hear any other concerns you may have. I realize many people will be cautious and/or nervous with the change. I will work hard to put your worries at ease.

Best,

John

Everett just wondering if you have met the new chief yet and voiced your concerns.
His offer to meet with you sounded very fair.

I agree. It seems rather soon to complain about someone in my opinion. After reading complaint on this site, I became curious and read the website where his resume/vitae appears. My belief is that the town is fortunate to have someone with his background in LE. He is educated for this type of work and has had excellent experience in a variety of LE settings. It sounds as though he is highly capable, very experienced in LE and has passion for this work (obvious long-term career path in LE). Franconia is fortunate to have him in my opinion. Be fair.

Franconia is a beautiful little town, I am in texas now, but I lived in that area for a number of years, in lincoln for that matter, in the mid 1970's to 1990, I was in the coast guartd in maine and I use to go to franconia quite often to a place back then called the hillwins, I think thats how its spelled, it was a hotel and dance hall. What a beautiful town, the people are great and the police a friendly as can be, at least to me back then, so to me I have nothing bad to say about this gem of a town, But I remember one incident where my Car broke down on I-93 right on the overpass above franconia at 3 in the morning, it had lost all its transmission fluid, we were comming back from Jonathons in littleton,, this was in the 1977 time space, I didnt have a dime on me, so me and my friend left my car on the interstate and walked down to frnconia at 3 am in the morning looking for help, like a quarter and a pay phone, its was so peaceful, and their was a very nice officer that seen us walking around, and at 3 am that didntlook like a good sign to him. but he came up to us and went out of his way to help us, using the phone to call someone, a cup of coffee, the whole routine, and thanks to the policemans courtesy we were able to get my car going again right at sun rise. Never forget Franconia police dept for that. there are always a few bad apples in any organization, but the good out weigh the bad. My message to this police leader is give the man a chance. I have a mother in law in the nursing home in franconia by the way, and it is top of the line, they treat her great, I now live in beaumont texas, But I will never forget that area, its heaven, you people are luckey, I wish I retired there at times!

I met the new Chief John Monaghan in the first week of His employment.

Personally I find John to be a perfect fit for our community. Several conversations with him has certainly solidified His positive interest in the town and its residents.

I have also met Mac Cashin the Sgt. and He as well is a nice fit in the town of franconia.

Went to school with Gary Pilotte the other officer in Franconia. He has always been a down to earth person, friendly and courteous.

The town of Franconia is in great hands.

Thank You......John

I guess I'm one of those tourists who got bullied. On my way to the White Mountains for a one-week ski trip, officer #3 Pilotte pulled me over at dusk in the foggy drizzle for allegedly rolling through a stop sign. Never mind that a pickup truck was in front of me, or that the officer was moving through a parking lot across the street perpendicular to me (all these conditions make it difficult to tell if I was moving), he was determined to bilk an out-of-stater out of $124. Do you think I'm coming through Franconia again on my next ski trip?
