It goes without saying I hope the little girl recovers.
But from what I've seen in little towns and big towns is people drive way to fast and when you couple that with small children who can and will do dangerous things like go between cars and out in the street on bikes or chasing a ball you can have a tragedy like this.
It's sad for everyone involved.

ITOI you keep making reference to speeding and reckless driving. Neither of which have been alleged nor proven. I'm not trying to defend him but the fact is that we dont know the facts so lets stick to that fact and not assume. Not trying to pick on you, but lets keep it real here.
yes i agree and the fact is that a little girl is hurt!!!!just keep praying!!!!

Its already been told and she may have been thrown 35 feet but do the math weight of girl versus truck. You should know the facts before You try to use this tragedy as a weapon in your own crusade. I'm telling you the facts and you still dont hear, leave the two families alone. They are both victums and they need support and prayers. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Dan is a good person who has suffered as well as the little girl and the parent/grandparents. This was totally an accident if you have been on old 209 road before you would know this. The fact was the child learned to ride without training wheels and came right out in front of Dan. This has nothing to do with who he is. The state trooper was there for a long time and even came back to look at the bike. This was a total accident and you should be ashamed to try to make trouble out of a very bad accident. God bless the little girl, her family, Dan and his family. The little girl is on the road to recovery. Be nice please to everybody involved
Well I must concede. I asked and provoked some answers here, rather interpretation or "common sense" on this vague article. So the facts/situation are in and out on this one. As much as it hurts me to say "It is what it is". I do know this now if anything. Most whom read this will be slowing down everywhere the next couple days. I know I will certainly slow down to a trickle now and forever on that 1/2 mile stretch on old 209 the local's call Newkirk. Oh I would still love to hear about how the little one is doing and hopefully coming back of course from this mishap in the next couple days/months/years.

All i say this tradgedy is everybody needs to realize this happens everyday and it happens to innocent people. Dan is upset just as well as the family of the girl which is understandable. I would also be upset if it were my child. I think the most important thing is nobody need to bash anyone on here and people that were not there have no right to talk. The facts were clearly a little girl was accidently hit on her bike. That in itself is bad enough no matter who it was. The key point is though Dan just as the girls family and all family's involved are concerned about the little girl.I am sure Dan being the person he is would have laid in her place if he could he did not mean for that to happen and it was a complete accident!! All I can say is everybody should just be praying that the girl make a full recovery and i am sure dan will help and do what he can to make sure that happens along with her family. Her family is there with her 24/7 and thats what she needs. Dan has accepted what happened but it was a accident!!

For real? First off I pray for the little girl.

Where were the parents/people supervising her? WHY is a 6 year old riding in the STREETS and not on the sidewalk or in a driveway.

Leave the Hope family alone, seriously? What do they have to do with this. I went to school and was friends with some of those boys and they are a great family, not perfect just like the rest of us though.

The story descibes the GIRL as colliding with the truck NOT as the truck colliding with the GIRL.

Yes, Children come first BUT seriously... how do you do that when a child DARTS out?

Unless you were there to see it you can make NO assumptions about the responsibility of the driver. I myself a few years ago was driving through a town obeying the 25 MPH speed limit along a street with cars parked bumper to bumper and a 10 year old literally walked out and RAN into the side of my vehicle. The child was okay and the parents were nowhere to be found. Stuff happens, they are kids and don't always evaluate situations correctly neither do adults.

I see little kids all the time walking the streets and riding bikes on them and crossing them at very very young ages. Call me protective, but unless I was there to visually watch my children I did NOT let them ride on the road, cross intersections on a bike until they were 12 years old. Walking was around the age of 10. These kids out there roaming unsupervised are TOO YOUNG to be out alone.

You can be right there with your child and in a split second a tragedy happens.
Happens all the time,unfortunately.
But I did read in the Morning Call today that the girl is expected to survive, just hope there are no life long disabilities.

You had to mention YOUR ordeal...your fire and the way people judged you should have nothing to do with what this is about - it is about a 6 year old girl. Again - GO PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS!!!!!

What in God's name is wrong with you ? You have tried to turn every area blog about you the mess of a life you have. YOU have the power to change your life and make it better, especially for your children. We do NOT care about you or the war you are waging with your inlaws or whomever they are. Your fire is over and done. A family is grieving and praying for the full recovery of their child. You should do the same ! Worry about your kids. Please go away and stay away !NOBODY cares about your sordid life. The only one on here, defending you is your poor pathetic daughter. A child. A child who should have never been brought into this public airing of your sick and dysfunctional life. PLEASE GO !

How about YOU ALL worry about your own life and grow up already. Why don't each and everyone of you put yourself in Dan's shoes. How would you feel if this accident happened and you were the driver of the vehicle? Would you appreciate people on here bad mouthing you? How would you feel? I know Damn well you wouldn;t appreciate it so why bash someone else for something that was not his fault. It does not matter who you know. The tamaqua cops weren't involved, schuylkill township is not their jurisdiction. And just because someone knows the Hopes does not mean they are automatically going to get out of the trouble. Im sure there is pleanty of people that know the hopes and got into trouble and i Highly doubt they got out of it. What is the person going to say don't arrest me I know the hope's a cop would most likely laugh about that one. Instead of blowing your mouth off over the internet why don't you grow some balls and say this stuff to the person's face? Because i guarantee you that No One on here has the guts to do it. All this false information on here is pathetic. If you weren't there to know what happend then keep your mouth shut about it. That's what's wrong with this world today people have no life, they gossip about everyone else's life but when the time comes and someone gossips about them they can't handle.
