No question of that; however, in a case like this, I'd make the punishment fit the crime; take him out and run him over a couple of times... disgusting! However, he'll get all dressed up and go to court and cry how he didn't get a bike when he was 3 and he comes from a broken home and so on and blah, blah, and the courts will feel sorry for him and let him go free.

This beast doesn't even deserve a trial. He should be taken out back and put a bullet in the back of his head. What scum! Second thought, run him over with his own truck. One leg at a time. Then the arms. He should die a horrible death. I have no sympathy for anyone who could do such a thing.

Oh, there are those out there who would cry out that this would be cruel and unusual to die in that manor. Who cares! This bastard should be put to death in the same manor as he caused death!!! It's time to make the punishment fit the crime.

YIKES!!!!....She was just 5' tall, and it was a pick-up. I would suggest that he did not set out to run her over; however, to leave the scene, well, thats just horrible. Attempted rape and murder. If a killing occurs during the act of a felony, isn't it a death penalty crime? I'll bet he get manslughter

What savages. Not the truck driver, the posters here. You people are no better than the rioters at 7th & Chew that everyone seemed to have no problem bashing for days. You seem to want vigilante type justice.

Fortunately for the truck driver, we live in a nation of laws, which will ensure this man pays for his crimes after being found guilty in a courtroom.

I certainly hope this is not another plea bargan to a lesser charge to save the DA time. Whenever children or violence like this is involved there should be no plea bargains. We elect DA's to get convictions not to barter the justice system to violent offenders.

Excuse me, we're not talking about an incident where the woman walked behind the guys' truck and he accidentally ran over her - this "creature" (he did not act like a man) forfeited his right to be treated like a civilized human being when he murdered that poor woman. We DO live in a nation of laws, but too often anymore the law is used to protect criminals and not their victims.

This is very sad. My condolences to the family.

this is what happens when you meet someone in a bar. A night of drinking and leaving with someone that is intoxicated never pays off. Even though she knew him, she still should not have gone into a vehicle with an intoxicated driver. All this could have been saved. I hope he spends his days thinking how cruel he was, and that it would have been different if he dated her in a coreect way.

Sadly, my cousin Jo-Jo died in a similar way. He was hitchiking in Ohio and was picked up by a woman one morning. As they drove, the woman told him she was a Michigan Alumni. Upon learning this, he jumped from the moving vehicle and yelled 'Go, Buckeyes!'( He was an Ohio State alum, you see.) The crazy Wolverine alum stopped, backed up and hit him, scattering Jo-Jo all over the road. The trooper who found him told our family "At least his blood was Buckeye red."
I shake my head in anger about it every day.

This is, of course, heinous. A sick part of my mind (honest, there are other parts) thought: gives new perspective to the old saw, "Women: you can't live without 'em, and you can't leave 'em by the side of the road when you're done with 'em."
Come on. Tell me I'm not the only sicko here?
