My point is, that while it’s admirable that you detest people that are cruel to animals, if you’re not also supporting low-cost spay/neuter programs, you’re not really helping and only adding your two cents here to make yourselves feel better.
So if you REALLY care about the poor, neglected animals, put your money where your mouths are (or fingers as the case is here). Donate time/money to local animal care facilities and/or TNR projects. Otherwise you’re just blowing smoke.
What makes you think all of us responders aren't doing that already? Those of us who are already doing what we can don't need another lecture!
But those that aren't doing "what you can" do need to hear it.

And there still aren't any answers the questions I posed. Are you you going to adopt any of those cats? Are you going to pay for any of the health care costs? Are you going to sponsor any of them to be spayed/neutered?

I'm already at capacity in my home per the laws in my municipality, so I cannot foster any of those cats. But I've already sent a check to assist with the care of the cats. Have any of the posters that were so outraged done anything? It's about putting your money where your mouth is.

Like I said - most likely, the posters were all just blowing smoke. It's easy to sit and type and be outraged over what happened. It's another thing to actually DO something. And if you are doing 'something,' and my original post didn't apply to you, good for you and the animals you help. You could have taken this opportunity to help spread the word that more help is needed.

Instead all you decided to do on here was comment on my post. You didn't offer anything of any value except to yourself (making yourself feel better by attacking me personally).

Wow, that is tragic. More vets need to offer low cost spaying and neutering to avoid such a situation. The cost of spaying at by vet is 395.00 But then the owner has to be responsible enough to get the job done. I can see where a few cats could end up to be a few dozen very quickly.
I have never ever been charged 395.00 to spay a cat. You are getting robbed. We may have a bill for $200 plus but that includes spay/neuter, felv/fiv test, rabies and distemper vaccine, treatment for worms, earmite, fleas and nails trimmed. Actually my vet charges me a lot less as I do rescue plus I buy my own distemper vaccines and flea meds. there are so many low cost spay/neuter clinics across the US that I'm sure you can find one in your area. Please look under petfinders or Doris Day- Spay Day and I'm sure you'll find some help somewhere. Good luck.

This woman was obviously a hoarder. Hoarding stems from depression. She doesn’t need to go to jail, she needs psychological help.
People that are not dealing with mental illness can easily see that spaying/neutering pets is the responsible thing to do as pet owners. However, how could you expect that woman to process the need to stop the reproductive cycle when she clearly could not even care for herself? I agree she should NOT have left them in the home to die. But what should she have done? Who would have helped her?
It’s very easy to sit there behind the computer and spew hate towards this woman. But...maybe if she knew where to go for help...maybe if she could have afforded to spay/neuter the cats...maybe this would never have happened.
Now it’s up to people like you, dear previous posters, to support the SPCA financially to care for the cats. How many of those cats are you going to adopt? How many of those cats will you sponsor for spaying/neutering?
My point is, that while it’s admirable that you detest people that are cruel to animals, if you’re not also supporting low-cost spay/neuter programs, you’re not really helping and only adding your two cents here to make yourselves feel better.

Whoa here, what makes you think us posters don't contribute to the spaying and neutering of animals. Let me tell you I have been rescuing cats, dogs and wildlife for 20 yrs. The cat numbers are in the thousands and I have 22 of them myself one being on my lap right now. Whatever ones weren't euthanized, they were all tested, vaccinated, altered and put up for adoption. This was done with the help of fellow rescuers, many vets who know what I do (Thank God for them) and many private citizens who really cared. I also received help from 3 area shelters and local rescue groups. There is no excuse to leave animals behind to die. Absolutely none!!! She could have called any of these organizations or her local chapter of the ASPCA. In my book she is just a selfish person. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars doing this and believe me when I say I have made many a sacrifice to help these poor creatures. If you want a pet then you had better be responsible for it's life and have the money to back it up. I can't afford alot of things either, but I made a commitment when I rescued these critters. They are first and foremost on my list of what's important. They are a living, breathing creature, not something like trash to be disgarded when it no longer suits your needs. People like this women are the reason why we euthanize millions of animals every year. I won't pity her, I pity the poor animals that wind up receiving euthanisia solution through their veins.

What exactly in my post was “nasty?” It wasn’t me that posted “Put her in a dark room with no food and no water. See how long she lasts” or “And, now, the liberal "do gooder" mental health professionals are calling this a psychiatric disorder called "hoarding" or “They oughta "forget" to feed her while she's sitting behind bars.” Now THOSE statements are “nasty.”
The simple fact is that we are a community and we ALL failed, not only those cats, but a fellow human being. Imagine how that woman must have felt. Had we all, as a community, been doing more, this could have been avoided.
My post was simply to remind people to look within before throwing stones. Buddha said,“Focus, not on the rudeness of others, not on what they’ve done or left undone, but on what you have and haven’t done yourself.” When I read this article I questioned myself – what more could I have done? How could I help others so this doesn’t happen again? What can I do now to help those cats? I posed those questions in my previous post to remind others people to do the same.
I don't think anyone on this post really means to do this women harm, but I'm sure they don't have alot of sympathy towards her either. We here on these forums sometimes make nasty comments but I think it's more of a way to vent our frustrations and anger on something so senseless and cruel. Better to vent words on a computer than to take it out on a person physically, don't you think?

absolutely not! i say we leave her alone in a foot of feces, no food or water, dead bodies all around her and see how she likes it. leave her in those surroundings for 2 weeks, or how about a week for each cat. i should be the humane officer or the person who makes the judgement call, after her example, not too many more people would make the same mistake. the laws have got to change. they are too lenient on these people.

This is so sick. What is wrong with people? Your hurting the animal more than helping it by taking in so many. I hope they give this woman the fullest punishment allowed by law. There is no excuse for this type of stupidity, which seems to be running rampid now a days. This lady should be ashamed of herself. This same thing happened not to long ago in Allentown. I wish they would put her in jail, but I know that is not going to happen. I'm just so tired of hearing about animal cruelty, hell, most animals are smarter than half the people running around out there.
I heard one local Chinese buffet bought all the dead cats.

Are you trying to get a rise out of me because you can't get a rise anywhere else? Or are you sad that all those cats have more sense then you do?
