Just goes to show people are afraid of things they don't understand. People are afraid of change. I wouldn't hurt a flea, let alone a person. Just proves my point. We are a fear-based society afraid of many things. Vegans are the last group of people to be fearful of. If I didn't care about people, I wouldn't care what the children ate or what they were taught. Humane Education coupled with a Vegan lunch is the end to school shootings, war, Health Care crisis!
You my dear are creating part of that fear-based society. Telling kids that meat and milk is poison is surely setting fear in their hearts. How many kids went home and were afraid to eat anything after your "lessons?" And about you not hurting anyone? You may not be beating a child, but emotional and mental abuse still count as abuse in my book.

FGR Parent, I was not missing the point. Kevin put forward an argument and I simply answered it the best I could.

Asking Warwak if he wears canvas shoes to contradict his argument and telling him there are good reasons why societies eat animals is no more relevent than me replying to it to try and put it right!:)

I agree, it was not Warwak's place to teach these things in an art class whether I agree with his beleifs or not. I mentioned that in another forum.

Heather, You completely missed the point. This is not about Vegan teach being good or bad. It is about a school teacher who tried to indoctrinate kids who had no choice but to listen to him in class. He was suppose to teach Art and he did not do that. Instead he decided to change the school agenda to his own and not teach art anymore. It is obvoius to me as a parent of one of the kids who had him that he broke the rules of being a good and honest teacher. How would you like your kids coming home telling you the teacher is not doing his job anymore? How would you like your kids being told not to tell your parents what they are learning in class? How would you like to hear from kids that Mr Warwak is acting very strange to the girls in the class? How would you like to hear he is having the kids play the Vegan web site games in study hall? How would you like to hear he is putting kids in a dunce hat and maikg kids sit in the corner? Go look at his pictures on Myspace of Ronald McDonald hanging on a cross and tell me what you think of him. Why does a grown man have a MySpace account in the first place???
My daughter and my son have had this man teach them. Both have told us about these situations occuring and I for one have had it with him! He is a border line pedofile and he needs to leave young children alone and teach his beliefs to adults. If you want to stick up for him go ahead but you needed to know the real truth about a man who has gone off the deep end and needs help. Have you noticed he never answers anyone questions? This is true not only online but in person too. The man never answers anyones questions and that is troubling. He could have done his job and been a vegan too. My kids never had the opportunity to say I do not want to hear anymore about Vegan lifestyle. He was their teacher and they were his ART students. The classroom door was closed and they were stuck listening to him.
Now the door is open and I for one based on what I have heard first hand do not want him near my kids ever again!

Considering I was just replying to a poster that also seemed to have no more relevence to teaching children than my post, there was no need for half of this! I understand your angry though.

....besides, People often step away from the point in these forums it is probably the only place you'd start with debating abortion, then homosexuality, animal rights and back to abortion!:)

What Warwak did was wrong but that's probably the only time children these days are ever gonna think about what they put in their mouths..

I know some children as old as six who don't even know hamburgers come from animals. If this was done as a totally seperate lesson just once in their school lives it might be beneficial! Although Warwak's methods were quite wrong I understand that there is nothing worse than people who live their lives with their fingers in their ears.

Dave Warwak received a strong warning today from his hometown police.
The warning came in response to complaints from parents and teachers who were in attendance at the town's annual homecoming parade.
Accompanied by his dog, Warwak allegedly entered the parade and passed out small cards to children.
Police stopped Warwak, escorted him home and instructed him to “stay away from the town’s children”.
At particular issue with police was Warwak telling children, Santa Claus is not real.
The card’s front reads:
Remember the Santa Claus lie?
One lie is so bad, some people prefer to keep it hidden.
So hidden, some never find out!
Do you want to live a lie?
The back reads:
Go to your favorite search engine.
Look-up “Factory Farming” Look-up “Vegan”
“Naming a rock, a banana, does not make it food”
A teacher of ten years in Illinois, Warwak was recently fired for his vegan views.
Warwak filed an appeal in response to his termination. No date has been set
