I just wanted to say that how the Daily Herald handled this was absolutely irresponsible. I happen to now the family, and they are very nice people. What the kid did was just plan stupid. But posting there address and the kids picture in the paper is just plan dumb. The family does not deserve this sort of attention, let alone telling everyone where they live. Punish the kid not the whole family.

Sorry, Cassidy, but at 17 years old, those kids should realize there are consequences to their actions, only one of which is the embarassment and humiliation of their families. Some jokes are just not funny, and willful disobedience of a police directive is just stupid.

Lurker-
You are 100% right about that. Those kids know what chaos their actions would cause and that's exactly why they wanted to pull that insensitive stunt. Maybe a couple of days of jail would do them some good.

So blame the parents that had nothing to do with it...but press charges as though they are adults? Seems like a contradiction to me. Ok.

Cassidy-
Those kids aren't 7 they are 17 and at 17 you have a strong sense of right and wrong. With all the school violence making the news, I doubt there is a kid anywhere in the United States that hasn't heard of other kids making that MISTAKE and what the result was. I'm sure all kids have heard of zero tolerence. There comes a time when parents can do just so much, and the kids have to stand up to the plate and deal with what their poor decisions have done.
I'm sure that the families are very nice but the parents do not need to suffer for their childrens indiscretions but I do feel that they need to stand by their kids and let them know that they are loved. Enough said.
