For background: A developer had applied with the state for tax credits to build a low-income, multifamily complex basically in the middle of a neighborhood in Sugar Land less than a mile outside city limits. The developers stand to get $20 million from the state over 10 years if their application is approved.

GOLDSHIRE TOWNHOMES
16827 Old Richmond Rd, Sugar Land, 77498
TDHCA file # 09166

After much protest from the neighborhood and areas surrounding it, a rep from Goldshire had said we were simply "uninformed." We founded United77498 and launched an investigation of Goldshire Development and SHR Invests (the land seller to Goldshire.) Lots of highly interesting and constroversial information was discovered.
Among what we found, was that the land seller and his real estate agent (who doesn't even live in Fort Bend County) had basically created a non-existent home owner's association (HOA) and sent a letter from this "HOA" to the state in order to add points to the Goldshire Townhomes application. We were able to have the points removed, but the application still stood.

And that was just one thing we found.

On June 25th, the TDHCA held a meeting in Austin on all multi-family applications wanting funding this year. We had three members from United77498 attend and make a presentation to the state. After we concluded our presentation, the Board said the TDHCA would be engaged in an active investigation of Goldshire. They suspected that Goldshire would be disqualified. However, if Goldshire should somehow not be disqualified, the staff would NOT be recommending Goldshire’s approval.

We hope to receive the final official decision from TDHCA any day now. Will update when that happens.

Just received official word from TDHCA --

Likely due to pressure from area residents and revelations brought to light by the area civic group United77498, Goldshire has officially withdrawn their application as of today!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send in opposition letters to TDHCA. Final count was 2,605 opposition letters!

You can bet United77498 will be keeping watch on future developments in this area and keep working for you, the residents. Stay tuned.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Pisces

The last thing you want to do is to picking over every little thing. Instead, you have one eye permanently on the clock and you're trying to cram as many activities into the day as possible. This will be good fun and you'll enjoy keeping up the momentum, but beware of a possible tendency to become reckless or to try to cut corners in order to save time, because this will be self-defeating in the long run.
