Did you know that there are over 2,000 citizens of the city of Fountain, Colorado that live in poverty today? Which means if you break the numbers down, it means that 1 out of every 12 of us live in poverty at this moment. This also means that it is time to act. No longer shall our fellow citizens have to live this way. According to the 2012 HHS Poverty Guidelines, for a family with a household of 4 people making less than $23,050.00 is considered below the poverty level. Over 2,000 of our fellow citizens deal with this struggle everyday. For those who think that this number is not a lot, did you also know that our poverty rate is 1.4% higher than the average of El Paso County, and 3% higher than Colorado. These numbers are an embarrassment to us and are community. and now more than ever is the time to act. If I am elected to your city council I will do everything in my power to make sure that these and other families are getting that they possibly need to get out of poverty by relocating businesses to our community by proposing an incentive to hire local workers that need better paying jobs, and by working in their own communities they will be able to save more money because they won't have to drive so far to work each day. I have an idea, an idea to help make this town better than it has ever been before, and in November 2013 that this great city of Fountain, CO will elect me as their next city council member, because this race is not about me, it it about how your local government can best serve you.

Sorry but there needs to be a correction, Fountain's poverty level is 0.3% higher than Colorado, not 3%.

That's why we hope you don't get elected, you bring no plans to the table just words. Always double check your facts before you post something like this. You can't fix poverty here unless new jobs start popping up, and these minimum wage laws are changed to keep up with federal inflation, rising food costs and extremely expensive gas prices.
