"Tony"

I recently read some Facebook posts from former members of your cult and the information was very disturbing. I had no idea children were being beaten or sexually abused while I was in the cult. I separated myself from the general congregation as much as I could for my own self preservation, and left when even that wasn't enough. To my knowledge, the rift between me and your organization was theologically/philosophically based. Had I known then what I've only recently learned I would have cleared out much sooner and notified the police. I am embarrassed that I was ever connected to your organization and I apologize to anyone there who was hurt by my actions or inactions. Shame on us all!

Tony:

It appears that, along with your holdings, you are going to lose your power of "directing responses to members’ deposition questions; withholding a member’s finances and phone; declaring [that you] pay “for everyone’s medical prescriptions in the church”; granting approval to a member to see her children; and kicking members out of the group with whom [you are] unhappy." I guess you are no longer the organization's "Older Tyrant".
You're just a common jail bird.

'Against All Odds', a fantasy that Tony entertains in his dreams. The Decline and Fall of the Alamo Empire, the movie he refuses to watch.

Eventually it will happen. Just like eventually the authorities caught up with him regarding his actions that got him in prison.

The court cases are not going well for ta. Chances are ta is telling his followers, "you are not praying hard enough". I think the facts are overwhelming and the court understands what the deal is and judgement will be based on the facts.

If the membership want to salvage their church, there's no option but to completely severe affiliation with Tony. Even if Tony were to cease contesting the judgements against him ( in the interest of the church and membership ) funds not allocated for his lawyers, will get gobbled up by the compensation claims.

Yes, It is a fact. The foundation will fold. However (as mentioned) if all ties are severed with Tony Alamo, it could go on. All problems were due to Alamo's actions.

At the risk of sounding naive, I'm wondering if there isn't a legal instrument by which Tony could be divested of his ownership of all the foundation assets, and have the assets liquidated and the monies put into a large trust. The huge compensation claims will never be satisfied, so realistically, better to settle for something more down to earth, realistic. In a perfect world, you would expect at least some of the claimants to reduce their demands with a view to perhaps helping out current members start new lives. A large settlement won't really improve your life if you've been emotionally damaged - but helping other damaged people certainly would. For what it's worth, it's not my intention to minimize the hurt and suffering of the claimants.

... erh, a class action suit- DOH! That would definitely require some dedicated, concerted, gargantuan effort - likely why it hasn't been tried yet.

The problem is the dedication to ta. I am not sure about the legalistic situation behind it. Currently there are attorneys seeking the source of money coming in.

Rev., my first post didn't go on so I'll try again. I agree with you and wondered how it would be if not only did the current members utterly sever all connection and affiliation with Tony Alamo but also reestablished communications and relations with former members. They have been coerced by Alamo to hate and fear former members, which works for him because of his guilt, paranoia and selfish interest in keeping current members apart from those of us who have seen through him, but it only harms them. What a wonderful vote of no confidence against Alamo that would be as well as a public statement that would demonstrate their right to keep their properties and Church!!

If the ex-members could have a presence, that would be cool. Like, rent a store front and open a cafe - we'd call it ZuZu's. We'd take turns staffing it - like a week or two every year. Any current foundation member could eat there for free - and of course we'd offer bottomless cup coffee. Of course the members would be wary, but could they really resist the bottomless cup coffee? I don't think so.

Many moons ago (like ten years plus) the property across the street (1 1/2?) from 13136 was for sale. I left a message for the real estate agent (on the sign). I never got a return call.

It would have been an excellent location. If the members needed to talk, they could simply walk across the street.

That said, once they did, they could never walk back.

I just read something regarding job interviews. The article claimed 92% of job seekers fear job interviews. That surprised me since I enjoy job interviews. Once out of the outfit, I have probably been to at least 100 job interviews over the course of the last 20+ years. Chances are I won't have to go to anymore since the position I have will be my last as a working individual.

After I was out of the outfit, I started applying for jobs and going to interviews. The thought struck me then; Why didn't the foundation have an interview process? If a position became open (desirable job?) just advertise among the bros and have interviews.

Simple answer. No one had to be qualified for the position they held at the cult; they just had to be in favor.

Or if it was a particularly lousy job (e.g., cleaning pickups) you just had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
