Modesto wrote: I fear I'll make this movie far too expensive to produce but Meryl Streep as Susan,Hugh Laurie as Neil Payne,Russell Crowe as John Kolbeck,Rosie O'donell as Debbie O. and I'll have to give my votes for the remaining cast a bit more thought. ... Hugh Laurie, the last person I would have thought to play Neil. But I think you've got something there Modesto. They both have slightish builds, similar facial features. Neil would analyse and dissect a problem in much the same way as House. The only one that puzzles is the choice of Rosie. Maybe I don't know Debbie O. well enough to see the similarities.

I last saw Debbie about 30 years ago and so am only going by footage I saw of her around the time of the trial.

I think Hugh Laurie could capture the Neil P. character brilliantly.

Then there are the people on the outside:
Rick "Chanchez" Sanchez (CNN): Rob Riggle Julie Banderas (Fox News): Eva Longoria Heather Crawford (KATV): Abby Elliott Mayor Terry Purvis: John C. McGinley
And yes, I'm aware that many of the actors I've chosen thus far are often comedy actors, they are actors after all, and I'm aware of their range as such.

In case Ms. Paquin is unavailable for theM.J. Coffee part I'd suggest Nia Peeples. For Ron D. I can't imagine any other thanTom Cruz. As for the Mayor, if he is unavailable to play himself and there is some way to make him look 20 years younger, Donald Sutherland is a natural for the role.

How about the soundtrack? Maybe have the movie timeline event matched with contempory pop rock a la Forrest Gump, Goodfellas, etc.
Possible opening scene: TA's producers office fake "Road to Damascus" conversion set to Barry McGuire's Eve of Destruction....?

OK, how's this: if Harvey Keitel isn't available for teh role of tony alamo, how about the fine character actor Dan Hedaya? He's got the face and can play sleazy characters very well.
