Juanita, Not worth the effort? I was just there 2 days ago adopting a dog I could have gotten anywhere else but chose to save a life instead.I filled out just as many papers last week to rent the YMCA for a party and that didn't involve a living, breathing animal!

I have 3 dogs and ALL were rescued from a shelter. When I want a dog I cruise the shelters...usually for a few days. I make a list and start whittling it down. My last dog I chose was in his "last week" so he was a true "rescue". He's a great big lovable Great Dane mix!

Juanita, we sure don't need people like you in our community. I can't believe there are people who actually won't take the time to fill out a few pages to save an animal's life. My goodness! No animal lover that I know would consider paperwork an "effort".

I have two adopted dogs. The paperwork is to help protect the dog/cat from being tossed aside, again. Privte owners and pet stores should have to register to sale their pets, and unless it is for show purpose, be made to neuter/spay before taking ownership. This might at least help with the puppies being dumped on the side of the road.

I can't believe "paperwork" would stop someone from adopting a pet. If you truly love a pet, you'll do whatever it takes. I have two adopted pets one of which took a mound of paperwork, references and three visits before I could take him home. Both my dogs are true blessings to my family, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well I guess that just depends on how educated you are and how quick you are with a pen. It is so important to save the lives of shelter pets. I bet you would hope people didn't have the same poor attitude if it were you or your child sitting in the cage!

What an awesome thing. Shame on you Juanita. But you probably shouldn't own an animal anyway. So it all works out. I would fill out as much paperwork as I did when we closed on our house to save another animal. And you homeowners know what I am talking about. But the best thing I can say is SPAY AND NEUTER YALL!!

How dare you talk to Juanita like you really care about this issue, but it all makes sense for you to bash on her, cause she has a hispanic name huh? Oh what??? That's right....these people didn't see your rude racial slurs on the posting about the cop who could get in trouble for shooting a 17 year old who tried to rob him in his own home where you more or less called blacks crack smoking single parents and hispanics breeding machines? I'm afraid I'm with Baby J on this one. I, too saw your other post and was appalled. At first I thought you were trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny but then I realized you really are a hate filled human being.
Tell me...do you only adopt "white" dogs and cats? You do realize that the difference between a white and black dog is the same as the difference in humans. Its pigmentation...thats IT. The difference in whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, middle easteners, etc. is simply a function of life experiences. People (like dogs) are going to behave in response to how they are treated and interacted with.

I'm able to find people who haven't bothered to spay or neuter their pets and have LOADS of animals for free who need a good home without having to do all the paperwork. And if you don't want me in your neighborhood that's fine

No, not hate filled. I was able to adopt a wonderful black lab from a foster family type setting, where he wasn't abused or treated badly before ending up at the pound, he's the most wonderful companion in a dog Iv'e ever seen. I also picked up a stray puppy that had been turned out by the owners and he has become a vital part of our family, both have all their shots and are neutered and go to the dog park in FTW regularly along with trips to the dog spa(at petsmart at NorthEast Mall in Hurst.
