If you aren't going to allow citizens with CHLs to carry in schools, then you have a moral obligation to provide for their protection, since you have deprived them of the means for protecting themselves. That means you'd better make sure than nothing happens to the people that you have disarmed.

I believe no self-respecting teacher would carry a gun. Yes, there are unusual problems now, but still, guns in the classroom? I cannot see it. Of course, though I do not believe in individual gun ownership by anyone. Guns are not the answer to our problems. Somehow, we have to teach young people how to control their anger and impulsiveness, without guns. If you have a contretemp with someone, it only takes a second to whip out a gun and fire it. Now, if you had to actually use your fists, it would take a few seconds to think about it.

I agree that guns are not the answer to problems, but so many people use them that you have to defend yourself. I live just up the road from the school that sparked this debate. They are about 25 min. from any law enforcement and if some crazy was to attack the school, they are a long way from any defenses. There are only certain teachers that carry guns and they are all licensed and have gone through specific training and have been approved by the school board and other faculty. It is the safest option for this school.

As with everything, it begins with good parenting. The biggest problem this nation faces is the lack of proper and responsible parenting. People have kids, they toss them off to strangers, they leave them home alone, they let them roam the streets. Look at every case of crime, and I'd bet you'll find that their upbringing was dysfunctional to the core.

I don't know what the stats are for crimes in schools, but throughout the country, it's usually either blacks or hispanics (illegals). But oh, we can't racially profile ... even when it's obvious.

If you can't properly parent - DON'T HAVE KIDS!

If there is a ban on so called assault rifles and high capacity Mags. the only thing it will do is stop the sale of new ones. What do you anti gun morons suggest we do about the millions and millions that people already have? A ban will do no good, The only thing it will do is take away more rights from law abiding sports men and women

Yes it's usually blacks and Hispanics if they are illegal or not they no doubt came from illegals (anchors) And it is racially profiling no matter how true it is. But I tend to call the kettle black and could care less if it's Profiling.

I can't wait for my superintendent and school board to come forward and announce that anyone with a conceal carry license can carry on campus. It's the only way to stop, or at least slow down, an attack. If some nut job knows that a certain district allows teachers and administrators to carry, they will NOT come to that school...simple as that. Those of you that want to "fix" all the crazies are as nutty as they are. And by the way, Purple Turtle, look at the race of the wing-nuts that have already attacked public schools, none of them were black or hispanic. Sounds like you are a bigot and a racist!!

Daily Horoscope for June 18

Sagittarius

It's a great day for mixing and mingling with people you always get on well with, so try not to keep yourself to yourself too much as that would be a real shame on a day when you're feeling so convivial and friendly. Speaking of friends, you'll enjoy spending time with them now, especially if you share some core values.
