Kerdy 1 wrote: <quoted text> What is homosexuality? When people of the same sex have sex with one another. While the word "homosexual" didnt exist, the meaning of that word was addressed in scripture.....several times and God said it was a sin. Like stealing, coveting, etc. It really doesnt matter what people "think", what matters is what God said and He said it was a sin. So, I guess that makes God a troll. That is your view of homosexuality based upon what you believe to be true in the Bible. Many theologians disagree about this particular point of view. Homosexuality is an attraction for the same sex, not a behavior such as coveting or stealing. Getting back to Biblical meanings. The word "Sodomy" actually has 13th century origins and refers to people who have "unnatural" sex. It can be oral, anal, and with either gender. It is very easy to shift one's point of view toward judgment of others if we let mistranslations and erroneous word definitions lead us astray. Peace

Unnatural sex means to go against ones own sexual orientation. This means if one is heterosexual male getting sex from gay male just to satisfy momentary lust, the heterosexual male has gone against nature. It means, if a gay male has sex with a female for whatever reason, he has gone against his own natural nature. Unnatural sex is to go against your born sexual orientation. We are all sexual creatures, and we are either born homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual. Obsessive variations in sex acts are learned, and some can be very bad, but this is about natural born sexual orientation of which none are bad. Every poster here is a person, and a fundamental part of being a person is your sexual orientation. To say there is something wrong with a persons sexual orientation is to say there is something wrong with a person all the way around. This is why I have zero respect for the homophobe. I'd not pizz on one if it were on fire.

A phobia is an irrational fear of something. People often fear what they do not understand.

You do realize that the Bible was written by man and has been translated repeatedly with the Latin Vulgate being the worst bastardization from the original, right? Otherwise there would only be one translation and it would be on stone tablets in Jerusalem or somewhere in the region.

Interesting, why do you think civilization was still using stone tablets? Why do you think it would be in Jerusalem? You bring up a lot of questions

How do you think they would have faired against the weather over the centuries? Everything else fell apart. Then again, the Egyptians did start using paper back then. Isnt that where Moses was educated?

"It is very easy to shift one's point of view toward judgment of others if we let mistranslations and erroneous word definitions lead us astray." No kidding! Couldnt have said it better myself. Where do you get the 3% figure. For a moment, supposing your figure is correct, just because a majority believes something does not make it right. For example, the majority of Germans had no problem with exterminating the Jews in WWII just as the majority of Americans had no problem with rounding up people with German and Japanese ancestry. The behavior of the majority is no justification for wrongfulness. As to your 3% figure, I do not know where you came up with it but I do know that the majority of reputable theologians have discarded literal views of Scripture. I bring up the word "sodomy" to point out how easy it is for one to misunderstand word meaning and arrive at an erroneous conclusion. You are quite correct that I did not preface it properly but I find your remark about staying on topic to be slightly antagonistic. Is that your intention?
