Yo he estado haciendo una busqueda y hay un medico en Mexicali,Mejico que es excelente y tiene un foro publico donde los pacientes hablan de lo que va pasando aun desde el hospital y despues de la operacion. Casi todos sus pacientes son Americanos que van pensando que los latinos somos puercos e ignorantes pero se quedan bobos por el profesionalismo, limpieza y trato de este dr y su equipo y despues no quieren saber de nadie mas y guian montones de millas para hacerse los ajustes de la banda con el. El hace las operaciones todas por laparoscopia, y hace las tres operaciones,rny, manga y banda. No he oido ni una sola queja de el y los precios son excelentes y hay financiamiento. Lo unico que veo como problema es que una vez aqui no hay quien le haga a uno el ajuste de la banda osea el injectarle o sacarle fluido a la llantita de la manga para ajustar la cantidad de comida que se puede ingerir. mi email es [e-mail] y pienso hacerme la operacion rny o manga pronto asi que el que quiera zumbarse conmigo ya sabe juntos da menos miedo. I had the lap band (01/09) and have lost 52 pounds so far. My diabetes, stomach (Gerd) and my cholestrol are either gone down or GONE completely. It was the best decision I've ever made.
If you're looking for a doctor don't give up, hopefully you find one soon.
I don't believe the prior post that doctors are charging too much for a simple procedure. First of all, any time you are put to sleep for any surgery, it is not simple and these doctors have spent years to learn and develop these types of surgeries. You just need to find the right one. My doctor charges $12,000 and this includes a full year of follow-ups and adjustments.
Now the hospital bill thats another matter,, but don't give up keep looking and you'll find the right doctor. Good Luck!!!

To Kathy, if you only weighing 190, then most doctors may request that you go on a strick diet before attempting surgery. You must have a BMI (body mass index) over the limit for your weight and height. I suggest that you find a seminar first to learn and ask questions about both surgeries, but you may not qualify for surgery at this time.

Indeed the lap band is a slower weight lose but it can be removed the same way they put it on. Gastric bypass is forever and there are more complications from the bypass than with lap band.

One thing that is so very important is that NO surgery for weight lose is permanemt, you have to change your eating habits and amounts cause if you don't you'll gain the weight back. Your stomach can stretch back out and you will have attempted this without success.
