I was at the boardwalk public beach in Okaloosa Island this morning and saw an exotic black cat on the fenced dunes inbetween the Ramada and the Boardwalk. Has anyone else seen this cat? It was not a domestic cat. It had long legs and really tall.

@Tennesee girl, YES! We saw the cat tonight, 7/28/13, on the east side of Sandestin Hilton between the hotel and a neighnoring property. We were looking out from our balcony at the coast and noticed the large black cat making its way through/under the fence, through the landscape and under the large deck of the hotel. It was definitely a cat and was way too big to be a domestic house cat.

At Okaloosa Island down by the pier I saw the same cat. It's definitely a panther hunting as it was late evening when I saw him and he definitely was not a cat. I've been told there's a few Panthers living along this area for the last 3 or 4 years.

It's not a Panther. It's a Tasmanian devil, they had several escape during a storm in the 90's and they have been reproducing.

More than likely it is a Jaguarundi ; there was a population of them released on the Eglin reservation back in the 30's or 40's.There use to be a local TV show called Fishing with Red back in the 80's - 90's and he had film footage of one of these cats in a tree on a river bank somewhere here in NWF.
