David Peterson lives in Antlers, so he has to drive beyond the 2 mile limit just to get back and forth to Rattan. The embezzlement charge at Walmart's was dismissed, but the 29 mph over speeding ticket he just received will cost him $341.50. <- Ouch!
Dismissed or not, shud not have policeman that has stolen from anyone...were was his ethics??? And gives tickets for what he is doing also.....speeding....wake up Rattan!!!

If memory serves me right, Rattan officers can live a certain number of miles outside of the Town Limits, although I can't remember just how many at the moment. They have to drive to Antlers to conduct business with the DA, court, and dispatch. From what I understand, the previous Mayor and Trustes hired him - which should explain everything. The School Zone was setup by the State of Oklahoma per state law because of the State Highway running by the school. Rattan PD is expected to enforce the speed zone according to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and the town can be held liable if someone is killed and if the town is found responsible by neglect. You are correct, Rattan should have officers who have high ethics and morals and do not break the law; however finding someone who is willing to take on the low pay, town politics, and requirement to write speeding tickets to pay their salary, with those qualifications, will not be easy.

That is kinda shitty, holding a double standard. Supposed to be an officer? People have no respect for someone like that. Best thing someone could do at this point is damage control.(That means replace his ass before he becomes a liability.)

Good lord you people are never satisfied. When Zack was the chief of police everyone complained that he didn't work enough or write enough tickets. Now David is the chief and ya'll complain that he writes to many tickets. As to the charges since they were dismissed is it not possible that the people who first brought them against him realized they made a mistake? I'm not sure that is what happen but I'm just saying don't be so quick to condemn when you don't know that facts.

Heres alittle tip. A police officer is a peace officer first. Keeping the peace by what ever legal method is your priority. It is a delicate balance of keeping everyone happy and using the right amount of finnesse to get the desired result. It doesent come with writing as many ticktes as possible or just looking the other way. It comes from years of experience dealings with all types of people and situations. It has been my experience that being an asshole will make your job alot harder. When you start out making contact with someone, show them the uttmost respect (While never letting your guard down) it will pay dividens in the long run. Officers nearly ALLWAYS in most cases have discretion on how to handle a situation. Some officers feel that if there not writing citations, that there not doing there job. In my first two years i probably wrote ten citations. 99% of the persons you meet are usually trying to do the right thing. It's that 1% percent you have to worry about becuase no matter how much respect you give, you have that few that will take your kindness for weakness and that is the ones you lay the hammer to. Dont be afraid of giving a verbal warning if its not so sevier that you cant make that call.

. It was wal mart that charged him and he did steal from them. As for the ticket he got, it's like telling ur kids " don't smoke weed" with a joint in ur hand....Rattan needs to send him back to Antlers. He just a retard..and a smart ass

So you were there with him when he allegedly stole from them? Do you have proof of what you are saying? And if you do why didn't you go to the police with you're proof when he was charged. Cause they apparently had no proof or they wouldn't have dismissed the charges. I'm betting your just someone that he have a speeding ticket to and now you're just pissed.

I didn't ask if you saw him get arrested "which you didn't it's just hearsay". I asked if you saw him steal anything or had proof that he was guilty. Anyone can be accused of something. Doesn't necessarily mean they did it. I don't have to know the while situation to know that. Unless you saw it with your own eyes then you shouldn't be running your mouth about it.

Well all I hear from you is accusations but no proof. And if these people are so reliable them why didn't they go to the police with their information? obviously the police had no proof or else they wouldn't have dropped the charges.

Like I said anyone can be accused of anything. He wasn't found guilty so that leads me to think that no Walmart did not have any proof.
