I love my hometown, Ft. Thomas. I'm sure a lot of you don't. What do outsiders hate about Cake Town? Let the bashing begin!

How about this one... If you are going to drop your kids off at school (because they have inhuman walks like .25-.5 miles) then please pull completely over to the curb and respect the other drivers around/behind you. Some of us who live in this place have to actually work for a living and don't appreciate watching your slow moving kids take their time in getting out of the car and oozing towards their respective schools. Also, after dropping off your kids, please don't drive 25ft and then stop to talk to your BFF - all while remaining in the middle of the street - just tell Muffy, Biffy or Buffy that you will meet them at the country club later to discuss your indiscretions.

Point well taken. Most children in this town live within easy walking distance of their school. The high school kids seem to have no trouble walking off campus at lunchtime to eat at Subway, yet mommy and daddy have to drive 3 blocks every morning to deposit them at the front door of the school building. I live within "spitting distance" of the front door to St. Thomas school, yet every morning my neighbors drop their kids off there instead of telling them to walk.

I agree with too many rentals. There has been a lot more "rif raff" seen lately. You see it at Tower Park. You see it in different places around the town. What people don't realize is that the Newport Housing Authority has been getting Federal grant money to put HUD housing all over Campbell County. It's amazing how many people who are life long residents are in denial about the direction it's heading. We are surrounded by it with Dayton, Southgate, Newport and Highland Heights and as the housing stock in Ft Thomas continues to age you will see it more and more. With this economy, how feasible is it to ask someone to pay $200k to live in a little tiny house with on street parking and one bath and pay huge property taxes? I mean really, is the school system that great? It's a better investment to move down to Independence where you get a larger lot, bigger house, lower taxes and put your kids in a private school. And, not have to put up with being surrounded by Southgate/Dayton/Newport hillbillies and rednecks.

You are absolutely right. Tower Park is now full of project transplants. Their rough manners and foul mouths out them. Not to mention their horrible way of treating their kids. Makes it less appealing to go there.

Ft Thomas is a beautiful City, however, Independence is not a better deal. We are surrounded by rednecks/trash also. I think just about every city nowadays has their fair share. Sign of the times.

The landlords need to have the courage to not rent on HUD. Fix up the rentals and rent for real rent. The landlords are part of the welfare state

The answer to this question was covered ad nauseum in a thread titled "HUD in Ft. Thomas" (Sept 09 start date). Let's get back on topic of this thread per the OP.

I don't live in Ft. Thomas and I never intend to. Too much trying to keep up with the Jones'es there. Kids there are spoiled rotten. Think they're better than anyone else. Not to mention the goings on at the 915. When will the truth be told about that place

I forgot to mention the satanists, yeah, it's the HUD people, the rednecks, the hillbillies and the satanists. It's all going downhill. LOL. Oh, yeah, and the latte sipping minivan moms dropping their kids off at schools and the lady who runs the daycare out of her house. They're destroying Ft Thomas! Seriously though, you can't stop HUD and you can't stop private apartment owners from doing what they want. However, we do have a great police force and you can be proactive and report things as often as necessary to make it a hassle on the offenders. We have a beautiful park system and we shouldn't be afraid to go to our own parks.
I didn't mean to start a ruckus on this post. Fortguy apologizes. Despite the issues in our town I stay here because we do have great schools, Ft T is close to everything, ie downtown, reds, Kenwood, etc. Neighbors do care and look out for each other. Despite the economy our property values do remain highest in Campbell Co which is amazing. Ft T does celebrate the 4th of july better than most small towns. Despite the "rif raff" The town has alot to offer. Back on topic people! Lets stay positive. What do we love about Ft Thomas?
