Red Wells was convicted along with Jerry Mclanahan and Don Faulkner in 1972 for accepting a bribe from armina Lees boyfriend at the Brass Ass and sent to a Federal Prison. At the time all three were Newport Police Officers. They were caught on film by the FBI.

In 1970 I worked for west side cab company Which was in the same block as the Pink Pussycat night club. One night I was standing out side of the cab company and I looked down the street at the Pink Pussycat and saw Don Faulkner who was the night chief of Detectives for the Newport Police department pull up in front of the pussycat in a police car and Sammy Eisner came out of the pussycat and made Don Faulkner move over and he got in the drivers side of the police car and drove it up York street' A few minutes later he drove back to the pussycat' got out and went back in the club at which point Don Faulkner took control of the police car and drove off.

Sammy Eisner Was found that night by Jimmy Holt who claimed that he was Sammys bodygaurd' Jimmy was at the club and Sammy told him to wait at the club while he [Sammy] walked across the street to the antique store after he recieved a phone call to meet some one there' when he did'nt return after awhile' Callie sent Jimmy Holt to check on him at which point Jimmy found Sammy dead in the antique shop/ There were rumors floating around that Vance Raleigh may have been the shooter but he was killed in a shootout in which he and another man shot and killed each other. Vance was the brother of Armina Lee owner of the brass ass night club. Rumors were going around at that time that there was a power play for control of Newport. I remember that the police said that two or three different guns were used in the murder.

Screw Andrews place at 2nd and york streets was called the Sportsmans club and it had colored lights on top of the building. If you were coming across the Central bridge from Cincinnati and looked over and saw that the lights were lit up that meant that the heat was on in Newport and that you could not come in to the club.

Debra.

Debra I'm sorry about that my information came from Jimmy Holt who claimed that he was Sammie's bodyguard and said that he was the one that found Sammie's body that night Jimmy did spend a lot of time at the pink pussycat. My sister marcia was good friends with your cousin Cathy fulmer. I remember one night when I worked for westside cab that your dad came over to the cab company with Don Faulkner, the police detective and jumped on one of the drivers for soliciting fares in front of his club before they could enter the club, needless to say that driver never did that again.

Sammy Eisner was my father...Does anyone know anything about this???
I knew Sammy Isner well....I knew Charles Swanifuss (sic) too. I never knew that Sammy actually married Callie Blaine but I do know that he used her as a front to open the Pink Pussycat (being a convicted felon, Sammie could not own a liquor license). While preparing to open the PPC, he re-habed apartment buildings (well, he didnt actually do the work because he hated dirt) I helped him with the rehab work and was there when he opened the PPC, in fact, I helped with some of the remodeling. He bought an antique store to front his "other" business.....
