You can complain about one sport, but you don't mention anything good that these kids are doing. Look at softball, track, powerlifting, band, theatre arts, Uil, and all the other things that kids are exceling at. Listen to the radio and read the paper. These are all the same kids, some years are better than others. Be positive, oh wait that's right, you were Mr. or Ms. All American when you were in school. Give me a break. This pettiness about let's blame the coaches, JUST MAKES ME SICK!
Take that to the bank!
No one is putting down the kids. I applaud them for doing well. But you have my comment all wrong. I was talking about the poor job these coaches are doing for our kids. Its not called Pettiness to want your kids to be taught better by someone who is supposed to know the game! So get sick all you want. UIL?? Really? Which part of UIL? Its ALL UIL! Obviously you dont know what you are talking about. We are talking about What happened on the BASEBALL FIELD..Go back and read the first comment before you get on here and start talking about theater arts and band.

I think "Wow" was just making an observation, no need to start bullying anyone. Calling the person "son" and then going on to insinuate that he/she is uneducated, makes you sound a little angry if not down right hostile. Hope you are not using these same tactics in your workplace. Too bad for anyone under your direct authority. Just MY observation!
Looks like @What uncovered a possible problem with the character of @Tommy L. IF our kids are on the receiving end of this type of behavior no wonder they don't perform as well as expected. I've worked for a bully and I've worked for a Leader. I had a considerable willingness to perform when associated with a LEADER and a knot in my stomach when the Bully was in charge.@What. hit the nail on the head. Did you miss it?

Well we had a good coach that knew the sport well. He went on to win the ONLY district title in Baseball. Next yr his budget was cut and someone saw hisi talent and ability to coach kids. So he left and went on to a school district where he is given the ability to shine.
This is a travesty

Who was this great coach. That won the only district title. I think I remember. It was Richard Rojas. Why does the school does this. This isn't the first time other sports have been cut to spend more money on football. Ok coaches put it out there and see who spends the money. I'll give you a hint. Football, football & football. Someone needs to call Austin, UIL, or the board to get to the bottom of this travesty. Come on people, enough is enough. Who's going to fix this. We need to start a petition.

Yawns. Sounds like a bunch of whiny losers doing nothing but sitting on their butts complaining. Oh wait...maybe that's the example youre setting for your kids. So tne 2-8 makes more sense now...its not really all about the coaches now is it??

So are you saying it's the kids fault?

I don't see the parents running practice or the parents running what these coaches think is an off season program.

So who are you blaming coach?

Many of the parents here set the most poor examples. No ambition, no motivation, no inspiration, sad, but it's a fact. All three are required for good athletes. I guess what i'm saying is instead of complaining daily, try to make a difference. And that includes working WITH teachers and coaches instead of always speaking negative and throwing blame. If you speak negative, it is very likely your son or daughter will, also. No, im not the coach nor an employee of the district...just a mere citizen observing the parenting going on in this town. I'm glad my sons are grown and doing well for themselves...it's just unfortunate they had to leave town for opportunities in their professions. Times have really changed...some parents dress inappropriately, talk like they need their own mouths washed out, and put social priorities before their own kids. Then we ask why our kids of today don't succeed? Easier to blame the coaches, teachers, and friends instead of taking some personal responsibility. How do you act in front of your kids? If the same words came out of their mouths that come out of yours, would you be embarrassed? If they went to school in their night clothes like you go to the store, would you allow it? If they went ot and got drunk every friday and saturday, would you be proud? They emulate your behavior. So when you sit there and speak with hatred towards the schools and coaching staff, expect the same from them. And no, their performance will not improve either.

Something that strikes me funny is the lack of concern towards academics. Sports are important but they are EXTRAcurricular, and NOT the primary purpose of our educational system.
