Well, I know you've probably heard this time and time again but this is how I see things; Whatever is causing you to feel this way isn't worth your life. you can feel so sad and depressed, but things will get better. You can't take your life and then decide that you wanna live again. When life knocks you to your knees it's time to pray. and on another note, suicide is very selfish. You hurt all the people in your life. If you have kids you take somebody they love and cherish. I have been to my rock bottom and have felt incredible pain. But I still don't understand why a person would take their own life. Things get better. You show how weak you are when you commit suicide because "only the strong survive" and "everybody dies but not everybody lives"... Get help and think about your future. Think about 2 years from now... If you kill yourself you'll never know how wonderful your future will be.

Yes, ask God for help. When you are having these thoughts, think about people who are struggling with handicaps, who did not chose to be handicaped, the blind who cannot see, the deaf who cannot hear. The poor who do not have to eat or a place to sleep. The sick who wish they can get better. Whatever is troubling you, you need to be positive and realize you have it better than alot of people do. Nothing is be worth taking a life or especially your life. YOUR LIFE is the only thing that is yours and only yours. Take care of it and love yourself.

God- praying. keeping urself busy friends find a hobby. Things to keep ur mind off of it. Um how old are u though. Play video games go play sport activitys or running. Um workout at a gym. But its more important to pray and not give up. I used to try killing myself. Let me tell u it aint no fun. I hurt alot of people. I tried 3 times. Dont waste ur time on it. But God answered my prayers and healed me from those thoughts of suicide. Even though it took 3 years. It takes time. Ill keep u in prayer. God bless.

I've been there. Get your Bible and read Isaiah 41:10. It reads, "Do not be afraid for I am with you. Do not gaze about for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness." The Bible "exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword." The power is from Jehovah God who inspired men of many backgrounds to write his words for his humanly creation. And Yes, God's name is Jehovah. He has a name, just like you do. You can look His name up in any dictionary. Also, it appears in the King James Bible at Psalm 83:18. Yes, pray to the One who created you and let him know exactly how you feel. He already knows how you feel but He wants for you to tell him. This way you can begin a relationship with the Father of the universe who will be there always, and he will help you.

I can't believe the advice being given here. If you have these thoughts, seek help from someone who will take it seriously. If you can't find any such person, go to an emergency room or call 9-1-1 or a local MHMR office or suicide hotline. Imminent suicidal ideation is a medical emergency.

I do believe in praying, but I also believe when you have a problem, you do something about it. If you have a broken leg, you don't pray and wait for it to get better. You get medical help, and pray if that's what you believe in.

The first thing you need is time to look at things. Your first objective is to get through the immediate situation. Get help immediately.

dont wanna argue. But plz u should hve kept it to urself bout how u felt towards us on how we are trying to help this person. Nothing against on how ur telling this person on what he can do but u saying how u cant believe on what ur hearing of the advice we are giving. Just the way u put it as waz very rude. But plz dont take it of what i said as in a rude way. Its not to argue. But just how u put it. And im sure u probably didnt mean it that way. But its just the way it sounds. God bless.

When a person has suicidal thoughts (as have I) the motivation is not there to call 911 or to call MHMR or to go to the ER or to discuss it with anyone. That's why prayer is vital! Prayer can motivate a person to take the proper steps because you are asking the highest power in the universe to HELP YOU you take the right step. A personal with suicidal thoughts many times is not able to recognize what they need to do. Sometimes all they want to do is stay in bed with the covers pulled over them because of how bad they feel. A broken leg, which needs a physical remedy, is different from depression. A depressed person needs emotional, mental and spiritual help. They need God's holy spirit(God's power in action) to motivate them, and that's why we ask for it in prayer. Have you wondered, "Bob" that maybe this forum IS part of God's answer to the situation and that all who have written care?

I have decades of experience with suicidal thoughts. I never once found peace by praying. I'm glad some do. I'm a Christian with a solid history of church attendance. I don't have a problem with suggesting that someone pray, but there needs to be more to the answer. Depression is sometimes strictly emotional, and is sometimes every bit as physical as a broken leg.

I've often observed religious people whose only advice is to pray. This isn't bad advice, but it's incomplete. If I knew this person I'd try to help him through it and refer him to an appropriate professional. The best I can do from here is refer this unknown person to a generic resource provider.

It wasn't my intention to sound so argumentative. I'm never that way. The "pray and hope it goes away" advice I usually tolerate is patently inadequate for such a serious situation. I wanted to give solid and immediately available steps to resolve the present situation.

If the originator of the topic is still reading, after seeking immediate help, I'd suggest reading Ecclesiastes. I've found it to be profoundly insightful, and even moreso after I came out of depression.

I agree with (the real life). Theres a difference between a broken leg and being Depressed. BUT everyone has a different opinion. The main point is we are All trying to help this One person. Thats What Matters. Everyone just has a different way of doing it. I Just Suggest this person talks to his Parents. If the parents dont listen or help. Then maybe a Pastor or Priest. If not then a Doctor. But Also to b in Prayer Cuz God is the Almighty who can Take Depression Away. He can fill u with Happiness and Peace. To hve that Joy. Thats our Awesome God. To hve That trust and know that u Are not Alone. God is Always there :) he is ur Best Friend. Amen.

I have to agree with Bob. Actually, both ways work and also, work together. Yes, you must pray...but you also need some medical help. Both come from God, to tell you the truth. It really depends on your relationship with God. God works through both. This is a rare moment on topix though! It's the friendliest discussion I've read in awhile! This is how topix should be!
