Has anyone noticed anything about the new Wal-mart? I guess I assumed there would be a gas station and auto service center but it doesn't look like that's the case. Why build a super center without these doesn't make sense to me. Anyone?

Another gas station would be over-kill. As for the service and tire center; its my opinion that I'd rather have the local shops make the money instead of giving it to the corporate giant. We've got plenty of shops in town and the competition among them keep prices down.

Here's what I was told about the "extras" the other Super Centers have that we WILL NOT! The tire, lube, & brakes center will not be added because the "local" lube, & tire centers threw a fit about Wal-Marts prices being lower! I believe it's the same reason we won't have the lower GAS station prices. I think we should have it ALL, like in Odessa/Midland, but I'm just one person. & NO! It doesn't make sense, but WHEN did anything make much sense here in FS??? ;)

Drove by it yesterday and don't think the building looks much bigger than the what is here now. Parking lot is huge!

I just think it a waste that they will not expand and utilize the land/building that they already own. There is plenty of space and has better access from the interstate from where it is currently at than where they are building the new site.

If the super center will include better customer service and offer a supply of products that we actually need, and keep them in stock... than I will be happy

I look forward to the groceries! Having better produce, a bakery (I hope?), a better selection of meats, & clothing options! The clothes in all sections are "blah"! & I hope the employees have a better attitude, but w/bad pay, & crappy hours...it doesn't seem logical?! Will Vanessa Cardwell supervise/manage the Super Center? Anyone know? I don't have a problem w/her personally...I admit she can be RUDE to customers! She's been rude to me, but that was years ago. If she does a good job, and her employees like working for her...than more power to her!:)

I really do think that we should leave the old employees at the old walmart and hire new ones for the new walmart!

I'm ready for some new selection of groceries!Tired of having to pick run down grocery selections here in town.

We should have a Tire Center and Gas Station at the new Walmart, let me decide were I want to spend my money, not some cry baby tire store or oil change place.

The local business owners threw a fit and got it so that if walmart were to open a supercenter that they could not have the same servicesas those in Odessa. They have been cheating the people of Ft Stockton for so long they know that they would be ran out of business. Why do you think people go to Qdessa for so many things.
If they wanted they could have lower prices
but, they would lose thier Gravy Train.
King,Wolfe,Weist,Mckissack made thier money off the people of this town and when it came up to having competition they cried to those who approve
these things!

My opinion and it's just an opinion about the new "Supercenter" is why spend the money to open this fake Wal-Mart Supercenter when that's all it is why give it the name when it will have nothing the other Supercenters have, why not just open a new grocery store beacause it sounds like this may be all we will have that is new compared to the Wal-Mart we have now. I understand the "home town" businesses in town will have a little competition but maybe that's what they all need to make their prices reasonable beacause if you have no competition you can have your prices as high or low as you want right? Have you noticed it only has one door and every "Supercenter" I have seen has two doors one for the grocery area and one for the store area. I just don't understand if this town wants to take the time to build this "Supercenter" lets make it a real Supercenter without all the changes. This town wants to have these things to better our town but for what if nothing else will change, there has to be change we have to let new businesses in town so our town can grow and support the success of the "Supercenter", I-Hop, Stripes etc. Just like our I-Hop they have a hard time keeping workers and eventually had to change their hours instead of being open 24hrs. like every other I-hop around. Our Wal-Mart can't even handle this store right now, it does not matter what time you go there are never enough workers especially at the check-out lanes and they are not ever stocked properly. When this new store opens they will have workers from other towns come here to help things get going but what after that you know very well it will be just like it is now if not worse. Our town has so much potential but as long as we push every option out we will always be stuck in this rut. Let's be honest and say this is not a "Supercenter" this is just going be an UPDATED VERSION of our current Wal-Mart and like we have for many years we will continue to go to Odessa/Midland or wherever for personal items, groceries etc.

I've been told by workers that are building this so-called "Super Center", that it's not going to carry anymore than the old one does, that includes groceries. They also said this is the smallest Super center they have ever built. If you will notice, they have been remodling the Lowes. Why would they be doing that if a real super center was coming in. Looks like Lowes won that fight as well! FS needs something more than sucky Lowes!

You need to get out more, Colorado City has the same type Super Center , no oil&lube, no tire center, yes groceries..Lowes is trying to grab business with remodel and if you haven't noticed Lowes is now trying to be competitive on groceries

Looks like we're back on the "unfair prices" topic again. Do we need to have this talk all over again? You dont realize what these local business' do for the community. There is no telling what the monetary amount is that they give to local events, charities, youth sports, and school programs. I dare you to go to HEB in Odessa and ask them to sponsor your daughter softball team. Anyone up for a debate?

Maybe not but what I save going all the way to HEB is so worth the savings.
