I believe its not fair that good kids get punished for the fault of other kids that do wrong, such as getting in trouble for talking in the cafeteria or not pushing their chairs in the cafeteria. I believe that the kids who do wrong should be the only
ones getting punished and not our kids who don't do wrong, poor kiddos the missed out on recess and snack bar today just cause the fault of the bad kids. As a parent I believe this is unfair to my child, and plan on going to the principal and talking to him. And letting him know what I feel is not fair for our kids.

I agree 100% it pisses me off when parents or teachers punish well behaved kids when they know damn well its the screw ups the ones who are responsible. It's a bad example and if anything it breaks down the good kids. Some kids require more discipline than others as well as more attention. No wonder today's society is so screwed up.I firmly believe we should all be held liable for our own actions.

But, come on, does not "pushing in a damn chair" make a child a bad kid?? We are so much into stopping bullying but yet so quick to label a child a bad kid. These teachers/principles need to be a lil lenient and have some patience!

Nope...don't have kids in intermediate..only high school. When my kids were in intermediate, it wasn't so bad. I don't see my kids thru blind eyes like most parents. I just think the teachers don't have to be so mean to get good results. We have some great teachers in our school system, but we do have a few that should seek another line of employment.

you sure are correct. it's just a shame that so many parents don't recognize that and teach their kids that. poor examples = poor behavior. instead of SOME parents always complaining about the schools, try supporting your local educators and GETTING INVOLVED! getting involved doesn't include going to the school and arguing about their policies and standards, it means supporting them, BUCKING UP AND BEING THE PARENT, and putting your kid in check. discipline in life is one of the best lessons one can be taught.

You know, I hate that parents think their children are entitled to things such as snack bar, recess, etc. There are many laws, rules, polices that I do not agree with at all. They exist because someone messed up, and so now I have to follow them. It teaches that life is not fair and not everyone wins, I can go on and on. Teach your kid that life is not fair and all the things that you should do and that other kids/people do or don't do. But no, you want to sit there and complain about how unfair it is and bottom line is teach your kid how to deal with life. Oh wait that's the school right........I have personally been to the Intermediate school with my kid and I have to tell you that the cafeteria is extremely loud. Those kids are way to loud, and I applaud the school for trying to maintain some order. I told my kid if he ever gets that loud or doesn't listen to the teachers he will be in so much more trouble at home. Now for you to complain, you really need to go to the school and see for yourself. I also applaud the school for trying to teach manners such as pushing in their chair. I hate that they have to try and teach kids the manners that they should be taught at home. Unfortunately, the school has to for some of these parents that are not suitable to be a parent because they want to be their kids friend instead of the parent.

Those of you who want to blame the schools for what they are not doing, I have a great idea. Why don't you do it yourself and home school your kid or better yet move to another town where you can expect to be entitled to whatever it is you think. The only thing your child is entitled to is an education. Teach your kids that they don't always get their way and that life isn't fair. Teach them to listen and respect their elders and be the better kid in every situation. I teach my kids that everyday and when the schools calls or their teacher I will help the school to help my child and they are in much more trouble at home then they will ever be at school. Regardless of what happened my kid had to do something for me to get a phone call. My kids have to make good decisions about what they do, who their friends are and all the other decisions that they must make and they are held accountable to being responsible. Simple as that.

Sad day on this place that parents are setting their children up for failure.

Follow the rules......Simple as that. There are (or at least should be) rules at home, school, public, and society all for some reason. Don't have to agree with any of them, and if you don't like them, then move somewhere where they are not rules, or better yet just follow them.

I agree with old school! The kids aren't the ones to blame, its their parents, they are the adults and should be role models for these kids. If u haven't even attempted to instill any kind of discipline, manners, or respect in ur children, then dont be shocked.when u get phone calls or letters sent home about ur kids misbehaving!!! My child is still in elementary and is better mannered than alot of intermediate, Jr high, and high school kids! Its all about growing up and being mature when it comes to being a parent ......ill be damned if my child is gona disrespect and embarrass me or herself because I didn't try my hardest to teach her any kind of value about life. Its not about being perfect, cuz no one is, but at least pay enough attention to the choices u make and the wisdom u pass on to ur children!!!!

Thank you for turning this thread into a good one and restoring my faith that there are still some GREAT PARENTS in Fort Stockton, TX! It makes me feel good to call this home! Hopefully your words will make just one person think "maybe it's not the school..." And to Old School, you are EXACTLY right, some parents who enable their kids to misbehave and go against policies and standards are setting their kids up for failure. I don't think any parent intends on doing that, but it happens daily when they want to be the "cool parent".

Thanks All!

Haha......not sure about leading. But what it does do is teach your kids responsibility and accountability. Another parent missing the big picture. Maybe even making excuses. Home school your kids. They can wear whatever they want! If not be like most kids and parents, follow the rules.

Couldn't have said it better myself! PARENTS: before you pass judgment on anything, INVESTIGATE! Your child might not be the victim! No one except us parents are responsible for how your kid(s) are...if you think anything or anyone else is, then you got all this business messed up!
