Not cheaper unless your buying to expensive of clothes elsewhere. Then you gave to also buy AT HOME clothes so they dont ruin the lame ass uniforms. Complete waste of money

Unless you are buying only a couple of uniforms, not that cheap. I bought each of my kids 7 bottoms, 7 shirts, a belt, and new shoes. I spent 300 on each kid. This does not include their street clothes. I used to spend about 400 on them at the beginning of the year, and it would last til spring. Unless you buy everything at Walmart , you are going to spend a good chunk of change.

Not sure where some people shop, I found some great deals. I love the uniforms. I also feel my kids take school much more serious. Since they've had to wear uniforms they rarely miss school and their grades are much better. Not to mention there are no more "what do I wear for school " frantic mornings.

I'm glad we have uniforms.

The uniforms are probably the dumbest thing to hit our schools...we as parents try to teach our children to be individuals..to be your own person and carry your own style. With this we are letting other people tell us HOW to dress our children. I DONT THINK SO!...As for you MOM- maybe the reason your children are going to school more and getting better grades, is because you as a parent are taking a little more responsibility...has nothing to do with the clothes!..uniforms or Not! The reasons the school dist. gave us for going to uniforms was poorly researched. I came from a town where the schools were uniformed, and it changed NOTHING!.. there were still fights, just like here, there was still criticism, just like here, and the grades stayed the same!...They make it soud like the uniforms are magical..as if once they put the uniforms on they are totally different kids! The attitudes the kids have and take to school comes from HOME!...That's where it needs to get fixed! Not by putting on some lame ass uniform!

We received a letter from Intermediate that it has failed to improve for two or more years in reading. Do you honestly believe uniforms are helping our children ?

all i know is that i spend more on my child now than i did before. after all school clothes and uniforms add up. it has done nothing but cause bigger problems because now instead of focusing on issues such as bullying or helping a struggling child, the teachers and others are just worried about if the children are followiung dress code. There is also no proof that it helps the children do better in school. getting my child to wear these stupid things is a bigger fight than before.. how r the kids ever going to learn to be an individual if the school wants them to all look the same..and I want to see the proof where it states that the school has impoved overall due to them wearing uniforms. i keep hearing there is proof but yet noone has offered to show the parents. js

I wonder if I'm getting that same letter. Got a kid in high school and middle school. If the elementary schools are failing you know the other ones are.

I know Alamo has been recognized in the past. It is a excellent school. I have a child in middle school, and have not received any letters. Intermediate is the only one I have received a letter from.

I am worried about out schools. I agree Apache and Alamo always had it together. We'll see how it goes for the other schools.

The school uniforms are expensive at Walmart compared to: Old Navy, Academy, JC Penney, Ross, ect in Odessa/Midland! I can get a top for $5 & bottoms for $10! Yeah, that's still $15 an outfit, but at Walmart the shirts are $7-8 & the pants are $13! You maybe spending more money in gas than the $5-8 dollars you save per outfit? I hate the uniforms for the kids under Jr High! I can see how Jr High & HS need uniforms!(kids make fun of you if you don't have "Nike's" & shop at American Eagle or Holister!) The older kids looking the same takes away from the popular kids making fun of the "different" or "poor" kids! I was one of those "poor" & "different" kids, so YES I know what I'm talking about!
My kids are 5 & 8. They should be able to wear something other than a stupid uniform! I agree; where is the PROOF the uniforms make a difference in how & what they've learned?

The concept of uniforms was born out of children/society concentrating more on being 'in style' or 'the rich kid' of such importance that it hindered the 'poor' childs learning, and in LARGER towns that is probably true. Im in favor of the uniform simply because it teaches our children that 'school' is important enough to wear decent attire other than pants that show underwear, muscle shirts, etc. If you dont like your childs reading, math, government, science grades then take the time AND opportunity to TEACH/help them and by GOD be Thankful you have the opportunity and QUIT COMPLAINING. If Each Parent would do just that there most likely would be an Increase in performance......wow, what a concept.

I think they look nice. Kids look sharp. Love to drive up to school all the kids look proud and professional. My kids say they hate them, but I think deep down they like them. I know I love them! Quit complaining and find something else tho complain about. ;)
