my god.$107,500 for a dumpy old gym, a leaky swimming pool and a half size soccer field. what do they think this is? first they passed a tax which will be unfair to ever man woman and child in fort smith since jonesboro has grown by 22% every year since the beginning of time by only spending $1.49 per person per annum for essential services. all that money for property that is appraised at $800,000 and my buddy did not even get to do the appraisal! this is what i say to you! make the ferris wheel riders and dump truck buyers walk the plank! this is what it is. what will we do what will we do?

Keep the place open 24/7 so the homeless can workout after they get the free meals around town. They could also take showers and use gym lockers. Maybe they'll get in good enough shape to tour the country in a homeless athletic league lodging at motels. Then guess what....they wouldn't be homeless anymore. The homeless campus on the other side of downtown ain't goin' nowhere fast. So let's think out of the box. What isn't going to change is that there is profit in attracting homeless people to Fort Smith. So let's make the best of it. It is a win-win for the Charitable organizations, newly created city administration jobs(paperwork) and last but not least, the Homeless.

Gimme a break !!

I don't know if what you say has any merit but I just thank God that I am not homeless.

Combined with the new Mallalieu Center for Academic Excellence at North 9th and H, this will be of great benefit to the City, especially the northside.

It would be a greater benefit to bulldoze all the substandard derelict(yet unsafely inhabited) old houses with the money wasted on the recreation center. Great benefit to the contractors who live on the Northside.....wait a minute, do any of them actually live there? Many of them live in Oklahoma.
