If anyone has any information regarding a rumor that Fort Sill will be undergoing a reintegregation for their basic training? My husband will be a Drill Sgt assigned to OK later this year and we would like to know whether it's truth or myth. Thank you!

I leave for Ft Sill on Monday Jan 4th and Im female. Females use to only go through basic at Ft Leonard Wood and Ft Jackson. My husband is a ARMY veteran and was also shocked that I would be attending BCT @ Ft Sill.

No it is'nt. Ft Sill is a OSUT base, others just offer Basic Training and then you go for AIT for your Military Occupational Specialty at another base. One Station Unit Training (OSUT) you do both in one base.

This may be true to some degree. I would like more input. I signed 25N which is Signals. I was to ship to Ft L.Wood in Missouri for BCT then to Ft Gordan in GA for AIT.

Now in the last few days I have had my orders changed which I am cool with that but I am still to ship to GA for AIT.

I know of another woman who is going to Ft. Sill for BCT and some place else for her MOS AIT in motor pool. It appears to be a huge over crowding in some bases and they are sending some people to other places not normally sent. I know in Western NY alone we were like 4000 recruits over needed. thats just one small section of an entire state imagine the over crowding across the nation.

And honestly I am a riflemen first so if for some "old army" reason I got changed to a big gun squad I would be "OK" ( pun ) with that. Keep the fingers crossed. I would not being attached to any squad as signals I know a Network guy who works with the 3rd ID that must be FUN!!! I would love to be signals for the 82nd so we shall see

My husband is going through basic training there at ft sill now. As he has been told by all the drill sgt.s there. They are in fact using it as a basic training post due to the other bases being "over-run". It is also still considered at one stop training post as he will do all is training there from basic to AIT. Yes fort sill used to be only male training unit as it is still mainly used for artillery units. From what he knows and has seen "so far" the men and women are being trained separately. Good luck to all who are going there he said inprocessing alone is a major mess!!
