...spoken by a person who does not care about anything good for the community. This coffee shop is a local church outreach that wants a good and decent place for the youth (and others of course) to hang out in a safe environment.

A church sponsored coffee shop? Wow, competition between a church coffee shop and free enterprise? Thanks for the info, I've got no interest in being a customer. And my children, along w their high school friends will not be drinking coffee there either. And since when do teens go drink coffee? Only in ft scott I guess ... really?

.... and let me guess the coffee some owners are community Christian cult members as well? Disgusting, simply disgusting!

So, if this is for the youth why is it also open for adults? Does that really sound like the right direction for this? I don't think many teens really want to hang out with their folks at a coffee shop. Isn't that exactly what you're proposing? Oh, it may get some interest in the beginning by people other than their own church members but I can see it turning into just another extension of their church and a gathering spot for them to separate themselves from those they need to reaching out to. Sad really. It may turn out to be yet another example of how Christianity has turned away from God based and turned toward social based. I had higher hopes for it when first hearing about it. Looks like the concept got high jacked by the adults. Maybe next time youth....

I see nothing wrong with a little devotional while sipping some coffee!

I applaud any effort to provide opportunities for our citizens. For any opposed to the concept-- don't go there. That is easy.

What a great way to re-connect with a friend or spend 10 minutes catching a break in a busy day. To the coffee shop staff: welcome to our community and I wish you much success!! Chai tea...yumm!! Although someone above says I am a douche because I stop at Starbucks on occasion I have come to find a mocha latte a great treat to rewards myself after a busy week of work. Go coffee shop :)

Before you go off on how sour something might be please check your self at the door and do your research. Its in no way affiliated as you describe. What a nasty attitude you have about our community. I hate to think this is the attitude projected on tourist and our children.

Well ft scott never has been, and never will be a tourist destination. If you believe that you're foolish. And if you think a church based coffee shop will help the community then you don't know a thing about business. As soon as ft scott gets a large corporation to relocate, and bring in 200 - 300 new decent paying jobs, and fill 200 - 300 homes ...then you can be proud. Lil single proprietor businesses that employ 3to 6 people at minimum wage does nothing for a small town.

What if there are 50 small business. That is about what we have so that equals 150 to 300 based on your numbers

The coffee shop is non-profit (the church will not profit) and will be giving back to the community in any profit that is made over cost to run the business. There is no reason to hate on it or be a kill-joy. If you don't want to go, then don't go. There are other drinks besides coffee there. Why such negativity? Its saddening that people who want to improve the community have to face such haters.

I think it is a good idea, and youth doesnt just mean high schoolers, it also includes our college students giving them a place to come and do homework, relax and enjoy friendly surrounding. The coffee house is for everyone. sorry to see so many bitter people out there. maybe a hot cup of java would do you good. rather than tare apart the community with nasty talk and negative attitudes, why don you support something good. like this. I thank the Church and the great effort to help better our community..
