How can this not be a mis-use of county tax dollars? They didn't have enough money last year, so the mill levy was raised as well as the tuition. They can't afford to pay overtime to the hourly workers, so they must take off instead of being paid overtime, but they can take dollars and give away to a golf course that is ran by other tax dollars.

One way to stop businesses from not paying overtime and forcing employees to take off with no pay is to join a UNION. Or just keep getting your _ss ran over like VMC employee did.

Sincerely,

Do N Fine.

have to agree, Man Doo hs no clue of where this country would be without unions. I retired with the RR at the age of 58, an age where im healthy enough to still do things. we could be like China, they have all out industry and the companies are making money and the factory workers cannot affort cars, maybe one per family if your lucky. but im the dumb one, ill accept that and the position im in.

Dont get yourself too high up there missy, you may be surprised as to what I have attained without the representation of someone else. Doing fine, I have surpassed you I am sure, and I am not near your age...and UNIONS STILL SUCK.

Dear Man Doo, Im not going to aruge with you and im not bragging I just feel lucky to have had a union get me a paycheck that rivals the management of my company. I feel I should be paid close to the managers since we are the ones doing the phyiscal labor. Unions narrow the gap from blue collar to whit collar workers. If youve done well, in your opionion, fabulous!, you probably coulve done better. Retired from the railroad with 3k a month and insurance. While working I was close to 80k a year with family insur and the pension. Thats the bar, if you have done that well on your own great, i doubt it, or you dont work in the town. Good luck to you future sucess

FSCC is probably the biggest scam in town. They waste money right and left, and this is the perfect example.

I resent the donation of ANY partt of my taxes to the "CITY" Golf course! What is the explaination for NO raises, for over a year.."Lay offs"..NOT extending contracts to LOCAL employees EVERY chance they get...as the budget is just "TOO TIGHT"?? THEN a couple years ago give the president over $26,000.00 raise...+++..and this year raise the mill leavy..THEN throw away 10K...Oh I forgot...anyone remember one of the FIRST pictures of one of the FIRST golfers on the course when it FIRST opened...Was that the president of FSCC???? Makes one wonder if there is a connection..conflict here????

So the FSCC takes taxpayer money and donates it to the golf course, and then increase our taxes. Idiocy at its finest.

I've been told by reliable sources that there's plenty of companies attracted by the golf course who are champing at the bit to relocate here and bring in high wage jobs for our citizens.

Way off base people..Haters will be haters about everything, including one thing that can definitely attract businesses and residents to FS. Get over it.

IF it IS factual about business standing in line, to come to Fort Scott because of the golf course...That's GREAT news...BUT what does that have to do with FSCC donating tax payers' money to the CITY golf course??? I understood this forum is discussing THAT concern...AND I am disappointed that apparently... 5...(?).. board members agreed to this donation....One would think with the economy...and..as it was reported in the newspaper..how DIFFICULT it was to request the mill levy increase...THEY would recall this information...and suggest this MAY NOT be the best time to throw 10K back to the City. Makes one wonder...how often "THEY" also frequent the golf course, with FSCC president. NOW before someone states there is nothing wrong with playing golf..SO very True...BUT let those that PLAY..also be the ones who PAY!! Not those of us who are struggling with the increase in taxes, the college requested.....AND received!!
just my opinion
