How does it affect you? You stay at home?

They would be moving the road a ways so they can extend the air strip. This should be a positive thing for the area and in the long run should not be too much of an inconvenience.

Call the airport and ask them how many people use the airport in an average month? If is not used to your satisfaction we should not upgrade it, is that right? Ok, the gas station on wall might not get used enough, or the movie theater, so we should close those too huh? There is more to it that obviously you understand or probably care to. If you did, you wouldn't ask stupid questions. Go to the airport and ask, go to the city and ask. Then you will be informed.

Get a clue, it is tax payers money that will pay for the airport road. Make all the rich people that use the airport pay for it. Considering we are such a poor community that has to get all kinds of grants, i would think that we couldn't afford to upgrade our airport, maybe the state should be informed of our upgrades, so the next time we ask for a grant they will know the stupid stuff we spend our money on.

Go stick your heads back in the sand. come back when you have a real understanding of economics and the facts. Until then, us that do not use the airport, like me, but are smart enough to understand and DO ask questions, and DO read and know what is going on are not bothered by this improvement.

Since you are so smart, explain it to us. We have had an airport for how long? How has it helped us economically? All we do is support the rich people that use it for personal use, it isnt used for any type of economic gain. If you call flying to chicago for pizza and flying to a concerts and shopping trips economic gain for the people of FS, you need to get your head out of the rich @ss you are trying to kiss.

One flies to Chicago for hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. Pizza would be ranked third at best and only purchased on a flight to pick up hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches.

It imagine that a vast majority of flights coming and going from our airport are business related. Most flights that I hear about are sales-related flights that help bring business to this area. More business... more jobs... more people getting a little bit closer to the "American Dream".

I don't own a plane, nor have I ever utilized the facilities of our airport for any reason, but I think it is a wise investment to improve our infrastructure to allow more business-related activities to be conducted.

Imagine if all of the people who don't have kids rejected all of the spending proposals for our local schools, or suppose we decide to close the fire stations because we don't think our houses will ever burn down. Thousands of people pay taxes every day to support the things we all need and want in this community. There is no service that every single member of the community uses. We all have our own assortment of needs and wants, and every person's list of important things will be different.

Take a step back, try to objectively imagine the economic impact of improving any service in our area. Sure, any improvement costs money. But lacking sufficient infrastructure capacity costs all of us money, too. Businesses that may have considered relocating to Fort Scott might look elsewhere due to the limitations of our current infrastructure. That might be a business that one day employs someone in your household.

Who knows, the new road might be prettier, more curvy and fun to drive on? And likely it will only impact your wallet by a few cents. That tiny investment might someday translate into an important financial opportunity for you or your family.

"that road" is a main artery to a part of bourbon county. unless you travel many miles north or south there is no other way of getting to or from fort scott. I would hate to see it be closed for any amount of time, or even rerouted. I mean really, who is this up grade for Roger Kraft? I suppose this is another one of those if you build it they will come ideas.

+1 You need to get out more if you don't realize that it is a very heavily used road.

the city is making something better and what do people do...they complain. It's been planned for years, read the paper people. It is grant money and it is good for the city. that way we can have one money thing up on these other town to get business. they are making the runway longer to bigger jets can land and take off. and if i remember right they said in the paper that 30 to 40 planes land a day just to fill up (buy fuel here), i think that was a weekday but still, the airport is great for this town and we need keep making it better. I just love airport days. They do a great job out there. if you don't understand ask question! there is reason for it

I know for a fact that Fort Scott loses industry because the airport runways are not long enough to support many corporate planes that would need to land here. Try asking SAFECO, who used to have an office here, with many good paying jobs. I was one of them. They left town because it was too far from an airport where their execs could land. It does affect the economy of Fort Scott to have an airport which can support the business and industry of the town.

I agree we need to continue to improve any and all infrastructure. Any improvemnets at the airport are done with almost all federal money. Improvements usually do cause at least temporary
inconveniences but hopefully they will try to make it the least painfull possible.

well, folks, this is all fine and good, however, why don't we work on getting the couty roads repaired? oh wait, we are needing airplanes to navigate these piss poor roads, so i suppose that we'll need the airport to gas up and then use enterprise to drive to town to get weekly groceries and so forth, but wait, we don't have jobs in the community so that we can afford to gas up our airplanes to even get to the airport.
