Any Oldtimers have the answers?

My buddy and I took Basic Training at Ft. Polk from May-July 1969. Our barracks was located on a hill or slope South of the red/white water tower by about 1/2 mile. Seems like there was a large p.t. field across the street and a small church to our East a bit. Head D.I. marched with a cane due to combat injury....a very tough man.
Anyway, we can't remember a couple of details about BCT.....
1. How did the trainees' laundry get washed? Quarter Master took care of it? or DIY somewhere?
2. Were M14 rifles checked in each night or did we keep them in the barracks with us??
Any help with this is appreciated.
