Hello, I will be soon relocating to Florida for a job in Ft Pierce. I am a single guy in my late 20's and am wondering where the best place to live down there is???

I have read I may want to look closer to PSL? I will be looking for single folks around my age group, young professionals, a little nightlife, etc. I have not heard a lot of positive talk about the treasure coast nightlife scene, but what town is the best for it around this area? Ft Pierce, Stuart, PSL, PSL West, Vero Beach??? Keep in mind that my job will be in Ft Pierce, so I will not be able to commute from Miami everyday obviously.

Anything you guys could tell me would be great. Thanks!

I do not know where in Fort Pierce your job is! The greatest city to live in is Saint Lucie West, just south of Fort Pierce, the interstate makes it an easy commute. Many parts of Fort Pierce is not a place to want to live.

In these ecomonict times you can buy a how in a fabulous gated community, they maintain your yard, have great facilities, great doctors and you get the fabulous ocean breeze with NO POLLUTION!

Homes are affordable, post back and I can give you much more information. moved to Florida in 1999, lived in Fort Pierce for 5 years, then moved to Saint Lucie West, YOU WOULD LOVE IT! I even know a realator that can find you the BEST OF THE BEST!

Ok thanks. I am not at the point of trying to find a realtor quite yet, but I can let you know when I get that far.

As far as St Lucie West goes, this is an area with outlets for shopping, dining, entertainment?

I have heard quite a bit about PSLW, that is most likely where i will land, thanks for the help!

No problem, when and if you are ready, I have an excellent realator who will find the home that is right for you!

Please email me at AMERICAHELP1@AOL.COM and I will help you in anyway possible. In the subject line put something like "Moving to Fort Pierce" so I know it is you and not spam.

I am sitting outside in the patio, sun shining, it is a little chilly, but the sun is shining warm. We have everyting you will need, if not within 20 minute drive you can even be at the beach. We are only 47 miles from West Palm, and they have anything and everything you could ever desire.

Hope to hear from you, the great state of FLORIDA (on the east coast) is the only place to live!

Gorgeous beaches, good restaurants both for quality and value, nice downtown area, no traffic, lots of events. If you move to PSL or SLW you'll sit in traffic all day. Stick to White City or Fort Pierce.

I half have to agree with you about your statement!
I lived in Fort Pierce for 5 years, I agree I would never LIVE THERE AGAIN! Too many illegals, too many GANGS! Even outside their ghetto you are not safe because they walk all the streets and have CARS!
I now live in Saint Lucie West, YES we have restrictions!! Thank God! Personally I don't want junk cars parked all over, I do not want to live next to someone who parks their RV's, Trailers and have indoor furniture on their front porch!
Port Saint Lucie has VERY BAD AREAS! Very HIGH CRIME AREAS! Grow houses everywhere.
We inspected Vero Beach, but it has to be one of the most confusing cities to live in! It is also right at the freeze line, we are BELOW the freeze line!
Vero can be reached from Saint Lucie West by I 95 it is only 17 miles away. Some great shopping, but to visit there I have to use my GPS to find anything. Plus, depending where in Fort Pierce they will be working, the trip from Vero can REALLY be a bummer!
West Palm Beach, WOW....we inspected it in 1999! It is a mecca for everyone! But LIVE THERE??? You have to be kidding! Besides, WPB is only 47 miles from Saint Lucie West. Drive there, shop there....BUT DO NOT LIVE THERE!

Great Airport, will take you back to Illinois for next to nothing! I will warn you in the past 10 years it is ALWAYS under road construction.

They have a TOP RATED VA hospital there if he is a veteran. Saint Mary's hospital is also top rated! But drive the distance, do NOT live there!

Not to mention that most of the home mortgages in St. Lucie West are underwater. People there got killed by the real estate bust worse than almost anywhere else. Gated community? Half the people can't even get onto the grounds because they have defaulted on their dues. Guess who ends up paying their portion of costs through assessments? You and that guy who keeps touting gated communities in St. Lucie West. Also, same with Tradition, people lost their shirts there. Now bad elements are moving in to both of these areas.

Look in White City or Indian River Estates around Buchanan Drive. Both are no crime areas.

I agree with what "fort pierce" wrote. In fact I also moved from Ft pierce about 14 yrs ago (1996) Would I ever liver there again? I have learned never say never. My answer though is hell no! I also go back a couple times a year because I have some family left there. I am just awe struck on how dirty the area looks, not to mention how rude the people are towards each other. I remember back around 1974 when my family moved to Ft Pierce from Ohio the people were so much friendlier. Ft Pierce was a nice country town back then. Now it is filled with immigrants, thugs selling drugs, gangs and filth. It is the melting pot for all the cast offs and losers of the world. It really is sad to see an area that once was beautiful turn into such a filthy, crime corrupted place.
My advice is, DO NOT MOVE THERE! I don't just mean Ft Pierce. Vero, Stuart and West Palm are just as bad.

But the guy is only going to WORK in Fort Pierce!!!!!!! He doesn't have to live there. There are good jobs there, in fact they are building a FEDERAL COURT HOUSE downtown Fort Pierce. I believe it will increase the thugs significantly because their families will come with them to stand trial. But to work at it WOULD BE GREAT! Great pay, benefits. But you are RIGHT don't live there!

I have already suggested Saint Lucie West to him, even gave him my phone number. I have lived in Saint Lucie West and it is an awesome town! Many gated communities with guards and gates. I suggested he call me because where I live is VERY secure, very little crime. High Police presence........It is only 1 mile away from I-95, could travel quickly without having to enter the BAD AREAS!

I do wish he would call me, I have a fabulous realtor who could work with him and find the perfect home, AFFORDABLE!

So you moved from Florida, so now you got Tornado's,with little warning. Horrible weather. Hurricane Frances (named after me) was the most vicious hurricane in history! She (I) went up and down the east coast destroying EVERYTHING in my path. Then came Jean (my best friend), she only did damage in Southern Florida.

But it had been since 1965 since we had a REAL hurricane. I would d'rather have weeks of warnings before the storm hit. Tornado's are totally unpredictable and they can flatten entire areas, WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS!!!!!!!!!

White City? Are you kidding? The speed trap of the county? What in the world would anyone do in WHITE CITY? Let's see, go to the creek and fish with the black people and catch CARP??

What in the world is there to do in WHITE CITY!

There is no DOWNTOWN, it is a bump in the road. What events? I suggest that you check White City OUT on their website if they even HAVE ONE!

Traffic on MIDWAY Road is a living nightmare! And YES White City is on MIDWAY ROAD! Speed limit? Last time I checked was 25, with cops ready and willing to write you up for the money. What industry does White City have?

I was on Midway Road TODAY, traffic was backed up forever!!!!!

Saint Lucie West you can set your cruise at 40, and cruise along. Now with Crosstown Parkway just below Saint Lucie West Blvd the traffic is FAR LESS. We have great restaurants, stadium with major team, constant events minutes from your home.

I guess you better look up Saint Lucie West and their great website to see for yourself what our community is like!

Take a vacation and go to Hutchinson Island, it is located on an island off of Fort Pierce. It is great, you have the Indian River to play at, you have the ocean on the other side of the island. They have unbelievable hotels, lots of activities. But I have to agree, FORT PIERCE proper is very dangerous. They do not have many gangsters! Their biggest problem is the "GANGS" and the illegal aliens.

Check out on your browser Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce. You will LOVE what you will see. And you can cross back into Fort Pierce proper and they have Friday feast and a farmers market you will LOVE!

Hope this helps. Your friends MUST live in Fort Pierce proper, Even I who live 20 minutes from Fort Pierce will not go there at night! Murder rates are high, but check out the island.......YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
