Predator Stalks Homeless in Stuart, Florida

We have a problem on the streets of Stuart, Florida, and I am looking for advice on what to do about it.

There is this stalker who shows up in town from elsewhere. His presence is usually attended by stolen items and his beating somebody up. He disappears for a while, comes back into town, steals, and beats up somebody else. I have become aware of this person's pattern of behavior over the years. He attends church dinners, looks for homeless, down and outers, insinuates himself into their society, steals from them, and beats them up. He bragged at one drunken party about going from town to town "decking" homeless people, according to two witnesses.

Police seem to be enabling his predations by not arresting him when people come forward to complain about it, though I hear he was arrested for petty theft and assault and battery. One person he beat up went to the hospital, but was afraid to press charges telling me, "I don't want to be murdered." He was afraid the stalker would retaliate against him.

Another thing. Do not simply assume the police are on the side of the victims.

This person's name in Joe Gilmore. He has served time locally, and I am guessing he has quite a record of arrests in other places where he has gone.

Any suggestions?

This Joseph Gilmore needs to be taken off the streets. He is a violent offender and stalker. He has beaten up some people badly.

Weeks ago in Stuart a man who had been arrested 44 times and who had been prohibited for life from operating a motor vehicle drove while extremely intoxicated, and hit another car head on killing a young woman. Everyone asked why this man had been free and driving at all considering his record.

I am asking the same question now about Joseph Gilmore. Why is he free to stalk homeless people in Stuart and elsewhere considering his past actions?

That's him. He was heard bragging about going from town to town "decking" homeless people. He goes to church dinners and sorts out the down-and-outers. He gets ito their company. Next thing you know somebody's face looks like it has been run over by a truck, things are missing, and Gilmore absconds. He shows up weeks later or months later and does the same thing---steals and beats some homeless person. He has been doing it for years that I am aware of.

There's nothing new about law not doing their job around here. I grew up here. In the old days if somebody committed crimes against you and you called the law about it, there was a better than even chance that you would be arrested and the offender would go free. You might think that's an exaggeration, but it happens to be accurate. Maybe he does know people. It is possible he was put up to slicing tents in a hoimeless came weeks ago too. That we don't know. What we do know is he is a violent offender being enabled by Stuart police.

It is beginning to appear that this Gilmore character is acting with the connivance of certain people in law enforcement.

Someone complained to the Stuart police department about this Joseph Gilmore. A police officer immediately made false charges against the person who complained. And the acusation was completely, totally false in every way, and even if it had even a scintilla of truth to it,which it did not, it was irrelevant to begin with.

I do believe they should arrest him let him cool his heels at the crossbar hotel.

The police may be attacking the homeless indirectly by turning a blind eye to Joseph Gilmore's violent offenses. They do that in jails all the time. Police don't torture people themselves, but they do allow others to do it and walk free.

Of course, there is always the possibility that police are scared of this Gilmore character.

They are probably waiting for this Gilmore miscreant to kill somebody before they do anything about it.

This is awful about Stuart, and their police department. We have the Fort Pierce police arresting homeless people and locking them up for no reason, under orders from whoever controls the police department. A couple I know in Fort Pierce were unloading their groceries from the car at 1:30 in the afternoon, were accosted by four "men" who forced them into their house, beat them up, and tried to rob them. The woman fought back best she could, the man, who has health problems, tried his best too. The next door neighbors called the police not long after. The four criminals escaped, the police got one or two of the cell phones the crooks dropped. Long story short, even with pictures of these creeps on their phones, and information the police needed to arrest them, the police told the couple "we can't do anything about it." FORT PIERCE POLICE DEPARTMENT won't do anything about it. They're terrified about the gangs in Fort Pierce, and will not do anything about them. Gangs in Fort Pierce terrify the tourists and residents MORE than the homeless!! I hope someone takes the homeless stalker Joseph Gilmore out really soon. And takes out the four creeps that beat my friends up.

In that sense, law enforcement people are part of the problem.

Get rid of the homeless, (which are welcome with open arms in all the empty lots in Stuart) and he'll follow them someplace else... problem solved.

I have a helpful suggestion.
Why don't some of you organize an effort to reach out to these homeless people, who are living in the woods, and ask them to come and setup their tents in your backyard, so you can keep them safe. I am sure you would not mind them in YOUR backyard, interacting with you and your children at the kids bus stops and when they walk to school all alone. Problem solved - again!!!(I'M GOOD!!!)
