If 4.99 Is too much for a collar shirt Then the clothes your children are wearing must be from goodwill. I seriously doubt the clothes your children are wearing are from goodwill. 8 year old girls should not wear tight clothing Nor should any boy where his boxers on the outside of his clothes. The next thing they suggest will be the girl should wear their g strings on the outside of their clothes. It is time that we as a community say no to this horrible trend that's defining our childrens style habits.

Getting rid of dress code

-Takes away individuality
-Expensive
-Causes a huge distraction

It’s understandable that there has to be some rules in school but St. Lucie county goes a little too far with its dress code policies. Yeah it helps in a way I guess, but it takes away our individuality. No one wants to be the same or look the same. Everyone has the right to be themselves and dress the way they please. Not only does dress code take away our individuality but it’s also very expensive! Some people say “well if you didn’t shop at the mall and went to Wal-Mart or something, it wouldn’t be so expensive!”. Have you seen the quality of the clothes at Wal-Mart? Or maybe Targets quality? It kind of sucks because it wont last as long as something you would buy at the mall. The prices for polo’s now a days is pretty insane. At Hollister one (1) polo shirt is $29.50, at Aeropostale, one shirt is $19.50, if you ask me that’s pretty damn expensive. Sure there’s sales and all but that doesn’t always help, especially with the way the economy is today. It also doesn’t help if you have a big family. Dress code is over rated, it’s insane. It really is such a big distraction! Its not because our clothes is inappropriate but because if you are out of dress code, for instance at SLWCH, and you’re not wearing the right color, they make you change your shirt. If you ask me that’s taking away time that I could be sitting in class, actually learning something! So why do teachers and staff members make such a big deal out of it? I mean if the students parent lets them dress how ever it is the way they’re dress, then let it be. It’s not your child who’s wearing something inappropriate. But that’s not the point, like sure there should be some regulations, such as your shorts being at least finger tip length, and the shirts covering the right areas for girls. Now for guys, that whole sagging your pants or whatever, that’s not cute and girls don’t want to see what kind of boxers you have on! So why don’t you do us all a favor and pull them up?! If we cant get rid of dress code then at least lighten it up a little. Dress code is such a controversial topic, some people are in favor of it and some oppose to it. In my opinion I oppose to it because it sucks. To top it off, we live in Florida! Do you not see or feel how hot it is outside?! I mean this is the Sunshine State, we should be able to wear clothes that doesn’t make us feel suffocated. But of course there’s boundaries for everything, it wouldn’t be appropriate for someone to show up dressed like if they were going to the beach! But lets say some shorts and a t-shirt, what’s the big deal!?! Can you agree with me in any way? Do you have some of the same opinions? Because like I said if we can’t get rid of it completely then at least lighten it up a bit. Now something I’ve never understood about why we have dress code is that somehow we’re hiding weapons in our clothes? Who does that honestly? Even though there’s dress code there is such a thing as a pocket or a backpack? So that’s one of the dumbest reasons to have dress code. Like come on, you can’t do better than that?

<quoted text>OH, AND I guess you think the way kids dress now looks good and appropriate for school? They go to school to learn and prepare for their future. They are not learning. Haven't you read about the horrible grades these kids are making. Their tests reveal they aren't learning what they should be in school. Parents should be behind uniforms 100%.
No the way some of them dress isn't appropriate for school, but not everyone dresses like that. Jeez, I hate the dress codes and I don't think we should have them, but we do. Instead of either dress code or no dress code we could meet some where in the middle like, we can wear whatever we want but the shirts cant have any profanity and the shorts have to be loose enough not to show your butt. The guys can't have their underwear showing and the girls can't have too much cleavage showing. I don't understand why we cant have a compromise, is the school board really that hard headed that they can't even at least try to listen to what we younger people have to say

As a parent I am SICK of this crap! Especially when picking up my kid everyday and seeing the teachers dressed in formal pajama attire. I want to start a petition to end this ludacris. Guess what an all white sweater vs one with Polka dots is not going to make any freakin difference. Maybe spend more time on education and less time on stupidness and Florida's population in general wouldn't be so damn stupid.
