I agree. They said this week we could do it online at the Costco website, but the site dosen't show a store in F.O. So now what do we do? Someone please tell us when and where to apply. Some of us need this chance at a new job.

Hang in there! Even Costco employees are still waiting to hear about transfer opportunities for this building. If the building is opening in September now rather than August, I would expect applications to be taken 60-90 days prior to opening--just keep checking Costco's site weekly. There is no better retailer to work for than Costco!

I heard that applications would be available in July and that the store would be opening in August. We need jobs in this family too, hope it will be soon.

The latest I have heard is Applications will be available in August and the store would open in Septmeber or October. They have had some sort of delay.

Costco offers job transfers to their current employees first. The cut off date for requests is 7/9/10. I am assuming that they will be posting information soon for all of the "locals". I heard that they are opening in mid-September. My family is considering this as a possibility for a transfer but I am not sure of the area.. Any comments about the area would be greatly appreciated... we are a very family-oriented and want to make the right choice to move away from AZ.

Stacy, sorry I just reread the post and noticed the part about transferring. Have you been able to get there for a visit?

I haven't been to that part of the state. My husband and I took a small vacation to the Atlanta area and really liked Acworth and Kennesaw. My husband works for Costco and we have moved "blindly" before, but now that we have kids, things have changed. Have you been to this area before, and if so, what are your thoughts?

I haven't been there yet, I tried to make it up there last week but couldn't get the time off. I will try and make it up there in the next week or two for a look. I hate to put in for it without having visited the area first but time is short, so I will put in and then have to check it out. On the upside the opening is a while off yet.

I posted the 'nice area' thread here hoping to get some feedback and have been searching online for info but there is nothing like being there to really get a feel for it.
I will keep checking back here and will post my opinion of it when I make it up there.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Stacy was right about the deadline for existing employees to apply. That posting officially closed today. According to their job posting for this warehouse they said it will open in mid-september but I don't know how that works with the announcement that they aren't opening till October. I applied to transfer, but don't know much about the area. From what I've heard they start accepting new applications from outside the company a few weeks after that. I was hired for a new warehouse and was interviewed about five weeks before the store opened. I can't remember how much earlier I applied, but this was over five years ago. But once again I don't know how them delaying things will factor in.

JJ and Joshua, what departments do you work in? My husband is in Optical...just curious. Joshua, when did you hear about the opening being pushed to October? I heard mid-September as well, but these openings never seem to happen on time. Atlanta was supposed to get a new warehouse last November, and they still haven't set a date as of yet.

I sent Cosco an email. They said they would email me back on the when and hows to apply.

I'm currently working in pm merch, but have worked food court, bakery, and every other merch department. I've also been trained in the tire shop and gas station, haven't officially worked in those departments. As for the date, the mayor there announced it at the end of June. There was another article where the regional confirmed the delay. I'm really interested to know what's happening. I want to move back to Georgia after living out west for eight years. There's a site where they were going to build a new location near my current store that has been in the works for several years, but they haven't done and development of the land yet. It would be really nice to have the oppurtunity to help open another store. I love working for Costco! Let us know when you hear something J lo.

Grrrrr, I was hoping to get out of this state (AZ) sooner than late October! Oh well, I guess we all need to hang in there until we hear about the transfers anyway!
