These Parrish people must be nuts! I have two grandchildren age 4 and 7 that play there for the Warriors. What kind of people would want to do this to a little kid?
I have just recently seen this topic and was unaware that this is going on in our community. I personally have a great bond with the ball fields on Barnhardt Circle. I have played there and recently have been there in support of my kids and other friends kids. I think that the men and women who keep the place up looking great and clean as they spend endless hours should first be recognized for the great job that they do which is mostly volunteer. I also think all the coaches, team moms, staff, concession stand workers, ground keepers and city leaders for the great effort they put into the Barnhardt Circle Baseball Fields. As I have sat here for a few days and wondering why anyone would want to steal these ball fields memories from kids, grandparents, parents and others. I have had to turn to my heavenly father above to ask him what or why would someone try to do this? The same words keep coming back to me Greed and Selfishness. I, along with others enjoy our childhood memories at the Barnhardt Circle Ball Fields, I enjoy watching the children hit the ball and run to wrong base as they are learning. I enjoy watching the children catch the ball and try to keep it. I enjoy watching all these young children making mistake as they learn how to grow and improve there game. I enjoy watching the parents emotions as their child gets up to bat. I enjoy watching the parents jumping up and down out of their seat while they’re filled with emotion and joy for the child. I enjoy watching the disabled grandparents of these children walk thru the gates in wheel chairs and walkers. I‘m sure this is the highlight of their week.. I enjoy watching the smiles on the elderly people who can no longer speak as the kids make it out on the fields. I can only sit and wonder what joy is going thru their minds as they sit at the Barnhardt Ball Fields. My response to the Parrish family is do you not see or get some type of enjoyment from watching these children play and learn the skills and trades for tomorrow future? If anyone doesn’t enjoy this type of fun in my opinion there is something wrong with you! Don’t be the Parrish Grinch who stole the ball fields from the kids .Doctors all over the world have said, for many years laughter is great for the body, soul and mind. I invite you to attend the next ball game on Barnhardt Circle in hopes you can start Healing. Amen!

Yes the kids are still playing baseball on Barnhardt Circle, sometimes you just have to consider and overlook the source.

I have just came from the ballfields over on Barnhardt Circle in Fort Oglethorpe. Some of people were talking about this blog so I rushed home to read it. This has to be a personel vendetta or something else why would these property owners want to remove the only attraction they have in that area? People today were jumping up and down and screaming for there kids all with joy from their heart everyone was having a good time. I wish I new which property owners wanted the ballfields gone. I would personally like to sit down with them and talk to them maybe even say a prayer for them. If someone doesn't get some type of enjoyment from watching these children play baseball and grow in my opinion there something wrong with them.

I have been told it was Ed & Radonna Parrish that want the fence down,[ballfield without a fence???]

...allowing the ballfields fenced in with the gates kept locked - from the article, it appears that the complaint is that the fence is locked, keeping people out when no games are scheduled. Maybe they want to use the fields as a kennel to let their dogs run in at night?

I was merely pointing out that the issue was the fence being locked rather than the fence itself. Then, I was trying to determine why adults would want the ball field unlocked and available 24/7. I have seen people using tennis courts before for their dogs to run and that popped into my head as one possible reason for wanting to keep the ball fields available 24/7.

I feel like the locks are there to keep people from destroying the place. If someone wants to use the field, I think they could get the key.

Amen!!! I guess what my question would be is how this effect the parrish family personally? Are they ball players? Furthermore I agree with you healthman they could get a key sign the key in and out. I like to ask the Parrishs if they lock their property up to protect their valueables? I personally don't believe this is about the fences being locked. I have seen the city council show and there is always someone from Barnhardt Circle asking the city to relocate the fields/ I personally believe there is a hidden agenda behind this like controll of the polo fields. It's been sidewalk complaints, baseball field complaints, cricket pitch complaints, gate closed to access rd complaints, and the list goes on. All from the same people. Sounds like a personel vendetta to me against the city. The sad part is they have brought a children playing area into this now. That the lowest of all in my opinion, trying to take something away from a child. What next Polo games without a horse!

Ellen to the left you must be missed informed. The people who filed the lawsuit are not even living here. The plantiff has a job in another state. It has been made clear to me by a local realtor that both of the plantiffs homes on Barnhardt circle are for sale. This just goes to show that the ballfields are not a direct problem or even a issue for them. This is about personal gain. This fraudulant lawsuit is nothing more than a personal vendetta and control over the city. It's just a shame that they involved the children of the community. How low will they go or who will they use next to do their dirty work.

I think the wise thing for the judge to do is dismiss this case.

Dear In the Know - I have no desire to get involved in this debate, but do know that their primary home is not for sale. They have invested much time and money in the restoration of those beautiful homes.
