There is a Bar-B-Que God! Thank you Bill for re-opening the "Pit"! We have missed you and your employee's,(and of course the best Bar-B-Q this side of Heaven!) Our family has been going to the Hickory since you first opened and we are blessed to have you back! Can't wait to visit Ft.Myers again! Thank you!

We used to eat at the Hickory Bar-B-Q in the 1960s with our families. We always wanted a seat by the screen since there was no a/c. They had the best coconut cream pie ever! We slathered that barbeque sauce on everything from the bread to the corn on the cob. My wife screamed for joy when she heard they reopened. Plan to bring the kids and grandkids thanks for reopening.

My brother, sister and I had our first taste of heavenly (Hickory) BBQ in the mid sixties with those paper bibs around our necks that were pulled from nails driven into the wooden posts. If we behaved ourselves, and used our manners, we were awarded a piece of coconut cream pie. Upon the birth of my children, we would mark their first excursion out of the house by going to the "Pit" and having their picture taken with the waitresses.

Hearing of the Hickory being opened again warrants a quick trip home. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

I LOVE this place!!! I can remember eating there when I was a small child, even the screened in windows!! When I lived on the beach, I ate there a couple times a week. Was sad when it closed. I read in the paper a while back, that it had reopened, but I forgot about it,as I live way out in N.ft.Myers. Well, I'm working down by the old place, have got to get there again!!! Hope the food is as great as I remember it!!!

Wow, I'm SO excited! What great memories we have of that restaurant! Is the food the same? Especially the coconut pie and slaw - same recipes? Has anybody from the good ol' days actually tasted the food to tell us if it's the same? A couple of years ago, my husband even tried to track down Bill Davis to see if he could get the recipe for the coconut pie to make for my birthday.

It's NOT closed! It is open Monday - Thursday 10:45-2:30 and then on Friday and Saturday from 10:45-8:00. It is closed on Sundays for church. The food is exactly the same and as wonderful as it always was!!!!

I just returned from a month's vacation at Fort Myers Beach and was thrilled to discover the Hickory Barbeque had reopened. I have been going there off and on since it first opened in 1056 and a visit to FMB was not complete without a visit there. So nice to see Bill there and the place and great food had not changed abit. In one month, I ate there 5 times. The very, very best coconut cream pie anywhere and still only $2.50!! Thank you Bill for opening!!

The reopening of the Hickory BBQ is some of the best news I have ever received. I honestly mourned its closing. I thought I would never enjoy their sauce or coconut cream pie ever again. I was there in the summer of 2010. It is every bit as good as ever. I can't tell the joy it gave me to hear from the lady at Dunkin Donuts (across the street) that it was open again. I truly thank God for this. Help Hickory to stay open by eating there as often as possible. Unfortunately, that is only once per year for me.

They have the best pulled pork sandwich in the tri-county area. The sauce and Cole slaw is second to none. Never seem to have room left for pie, but I'll work on that. By the time I'm through eating I'm happier than a fat tick a a lazy dog. Keep up the good work guys. Don't change a thing.

very disappointed in the food and service. Not at all the same rustic charm that we all loved. Strange short hours for lunch ONLY during the week. The place was almost empty except for the employees who didn't seem very happy to be there. To make matters worse, something I ate didn't seem to agree with my stomach. We wont be going back sadly.
