Full story: News Press

Prosecutors painted their witnesses as conspirators in a prison eye-gouging coverup Wednesday, with none saying they saw who took out an inmate's eye at Charlotte Correctional Institute in May 2008.

I came in on this situation a little late. I have read the article in various newspapers and on the web. What most comes to my mind is that no matter what no one, human or animal deserves to have their eye gorged out. I think many of you are missing this point. Seems like the people involved really enjoyed what took place (but not the outcome) and that makes them worse then the inmate. They are supposed to do their job as a Corrections Officer not act like members of a Gang. They are supposed to be Role Models no matter how hard that may be and do The Right Thing. If the job is too stressful then find another occupation. I must say. Hopefully "sowhatman" is not employed as a Corrections Officer. If you are I think it is time to find another line of work and or maybe get some much needed help.
Rocky I'm proud that you did the right thing.

Agreed. If they can't handle the stress of the job without becoming perps themselves, they should look for other employment. There are some corrections officers (I hope a minority) who have participated in even worse crimes against inmates and many are not prosecuted or even disciplined by their own state corrections board.

Corrections officers who either commit crimes or deliberately cover up for the officers who committed them have crossed the line into being CRIMINALS just like the ones they're supposed to be guarding, and should be prosecuted as such.
